Dolphin ressies: would someone please tell me...

...do I call the Dolphin directly? I am a new Starwood member,
so I have no points(yet...). Should I call them to make reservations? Also,my trip is 7/04. I know its not too early to call,but is it too early to make simple requests(non-smoking,
and an 8th floor,eastwing room with teacher's discount).
This is my first time planning on my own,so I'm really counting on the info I get here to help me.

In my experience, calling the Dolphin does not do much good, and i am not so sure how much good an email will do either. That being said, if you want generic things like a non-smoking room, rollaway, etc., I would email from www.swandolphin.com were I you. Other than that, I would simply wait until check-in. As a SPG it is likely that you will get more than you want at check-in.
