My DH managed to get us some free flights for a quick 6 night get away to Florida this summer and I am currently sorting out where to stay!

I am looking at The Dolphin Resort as it comes up at pretty good value at $244/night club level. However, I love the Disney resorts and am worried the Dolphin will 'lack the magic' of the other resorts. Do you feel like you are still in the heart of it all? Are there character dining opportunities? Disney gift shops? Disney theming?

Thanks if you can help!

Both the Swan and the Dolphin have gift shops very similar to the gift shops you'll find at any other Disney resort. Character dining is available at Gullivers (aka Garden Grove) at the Swan...I think it's almost every evening. You are also right next door to the Boardwalk and the YC/BC and there is a boat dock right between the Swan and Dolphin which takes you directly to Disney/MGM studios and Epcot center via the International Gateway. There is also a very nice pool area called the Grotto (and no, I have never pool hopped there....at least not yet ;) ) We also really liked the Palio restaurant over at the Swan.

Thanks, Johare.

I think we're going with AKL, but if time allows it will be good to have a look round the Swan/Dolphin for a possible future trip :)

I think you'd like the Swan/Dolphin. They have a very 'upscale' feel to them, but are still very Disney. Perhaps it would be a good idea to head over there for dinner one night just to check the place out. For good food (providing it hasn't changed in a couple years) I'd recommend Palio at the Swan.

Just remember that "club level" is NOT conceirge. I would not pay for club level but that is just me.

You get a breakfast and evening snacks, but that is it.

we stayed at the Swan, but ventured over to the Dolphin several times to get snacks at Tubbies and Dolphin fountain. These 2 places were the best for late night snacks. and nothing is more magical than sitting on your balcony looking out over the water and the Boardwalk! We LOVED the Swan and cannot wait to go back!:sunny:

You know, I'm here with my 5 yr old dd right now and unfortunately she has a terrible cough and we couldn't go out most of the day (and we may have to leave tomorrow-a few days earlier than planned).

But, I have to say we have an awesome room on the corner facing EVERYTHING (Epcot, BW, YC, BC & the Swan). I don't think you can be more in the middle of the magic anywhere else on Disney property.

She was sitting on her bed watching a Beauty & the Beast DVD on the computer and also watching the boats going back & forth from Epcot to MGM and watching the fireworks from Illuminations out the window.

If that's not being in the middle of the "magic" I don't know what is!!

I am so sorry that your daughter isn't feeling well. Here's wishing her a speedy recovery and a

Thanks for the well wishes. That's sweet.

Unfortunately we had rescheduled this trip from a week and a half ago when she came down with STREP the day before we were (originally) supposed to leave and here we are on our "rescheduled" trip with the cough and cold from you know where!

I was hoping it was just a little cold when we left especially since she was JUST REALLY sick, so I feel SO BAD for her because she's been sick for the past few weeks with only a few day break in between and we really can't do that much here with her horrible cough:( -she's been miserable:( which just doesn't make for a good time at the happiest place in the world:(

But, we've been lucky to stay here at the Dolphin.
