Dolphin questions

Hi, folks. We're thinking about going to the Dolphin for our next Disney vacation, and I have some questions for those of you who have stayed here in the past.

I am a teacher, and we want to stay in the Epcot area. I think I'd really like to stay at the Beach Club, but with a teacher discount the Dolphin will be considerably cheaper -- the Beach Club would be like twice as much as the Dolphin. I'm thinking that the Beach Club can't be TWICE as good as the Dolphin. Am I making the right choice here?

We are a family of four (2 adults, 2 girls ages 9 and 12). I'd really like to have one of those double-balcony rooms on the end of the halls. Do they all have king-sized beds, or would any of them hold four people? Or, is it possible to get a connecting room for the kiddos?

Even if we don't get the double balcony room, a balcony of some type is an absolute necessity for us. I know that many rooms at the Dolphin don't have them. Can I guarantee that we will have one?

Can anyone give me details about the pool? We won't be going to the parks every day (I have a husband who thinks vacations are for relaxing -- go figure!), so the pool is an important feature to us. I love the idea of Storm-along Bay, which is why I ranked the Beach Club #1. How does the Dolphin's pool compare?

Thanks for any advice you can throw my way!

The grotto pool at the Dolphin is just beautiful and rivals storm along bay in every way. If you like the Epcot area and want a deluxe but not a deluxe price the Dolphin is it. The corner king rooms do have connecting rooms that you can reserve to fit your family. If you join www.starwoods.com you can possible get a upgrade when you check in. Membership is free and there are many benifits that you can learn about on their site. We love the Dolphin and will be going back for a 16 day stay in Dec. I love the beach theme, the grotto pool, access to Epcot, MGM and Boardwalk!

I agree with Muffy - a deluxe resort at a terrific rate. We really enjoyed our stay at the Dolphin last summer. We are returning this July to the Swan. However, if you want to "guarantee" a corner King room (turret) with the 2 balconies you should reserve it - the rate does go up from the $129 (that is for a standard room). I found the grotto pool less busy and crowded than SAB. My family loved the pools and all the amenities @ the Dolphin.
