Dolphin or Swan?

Hi!! To read Expedia's write-up, the Swan sounds nicer than the Dolphin. There is talk of marble bathroom, Heavenly bed, etc... I also know the Dolphin has been renovated, and sometimes the write-ups on Expedia aren't completely current. Since my son goes to sleep by 9, I'll have plenty of down time in my room. Is there a difference between the 2 hotels? I know we'll only be there at night, but, a nice tub at the end of the day might be just what the Dr ordered!! Any thoughts would be appreciated.

PS- I am a LOUSY sleeper at night, so if one is quieter than the other, that might be a bonus too.

Suzanne, the biggest difference to me is the fact that the Dolphine has 2 double beds or 1 king and the Swan has 1 king or two queens. In looking at the rooms on the www.allearsnet.com website, (go into accomodations, scroll down to Swan, click on photsos with text and look at a double room) the Dolphin rooms look, bedding wise, like a nice Holiday Inn. The Swan ones are shown with down comforters. Maybe someone else that has stayed at the Dolphin can elaborate on room decor.

Hi! The Dolphin also has the down bedding, but if I were you I'd try to Swan. We stayed at the Dolphin last year, and it was quite a hike thru halls to elevator, down to lobby, to Tubbies, or anywhere else you wanted to go. We did have a great view of the Boardwalk, BC, YC, etc.

I haven't been to the Swan, just the Dolphin, so I can't compare the two. Just wanted to say that the Dolphin has Heavenly Beds, down comforters, and is very quiet. The pool area is GORGEOUS. DH and I also love having easy access to Tubby's for a quick breakfast--but the Swan is close by, so you might not mind the walk over to the Dolphin's restaurants.

Glad to hear these comments. We stayed at the Swan back in '98 and it was great (think the grotto pool was eitehr under construction or down for refurbishment) . Pool didn't matter, kids were <1 & <3 at the time. I just remember how polite and gracious all the CMs were. We are booked there through DU for the first weekend in Feb and I am definitely looking forward to a Heavenly bed, even if I may wind up sharing it with a kid that kicks That's one thing I like about the CR and Poly, the daybed for the restless sleeper (or parent) The more I think about it I'm glad that I booked there instead of settling for moderate and full sized beds!

I think in your situation I'd go with the Swan. It's smaller than the Dolphin and therefore a little quieter. While both are convention hotels, it always seemed like the Dolphin was more active with groups of people.

As far as amenities, the Dolphin has more restaurants. But that's about the only difference. Beds at the Dolphin are only about an inch smaller than the queens at the Swan and decor is similar.

The Dolphin has finished renovations and the room decor and bedding is identical to the Swan. The Swan does have bigger bathrooms though, so you're tub soaking may be more enjoyable there.

We stayed at the Dolphin this summer and loved it. We chose the Dolphin over the Swan because it is a little closer to the grotto pool and there are more dining options there which we thought might come in handy since we have kids. However it was a bit of a walk from the elevators to our room and the Swan is a good bit smaller so that may be the choice for you. Enjoy. You'll love the Heavenly beds.
