Dolphin-no rooms in Jan?

I've played with dates for next January on the website, but I am getting no availability at the Dolphin. Swan...yes....but Dolphin, no. Any ideas as to why??

I was just over there playing around and had no problem getting rooms at the Dolphin for many different nights and lengths of stay in 01/2005

I've tried (and <i>tried</i>) my dates: January 6-11, over and over again. I even tried the starwood website and I get:

Please search again with new dates.

</center> My dates aren't too flexible (my first ½Marathon), and I can pull the Swan up with no trouble at all.

There seems to be a bug in the system as I was having the same trouble last week when booking a room for this week when I knew full well there was availability. I saw my problem on the Starwood Preferred Guest site but not the regular Sheraton site.

Try Dreams Unlimited. They got the gov rate for me for all of my nights when even the S/D reservation's direct reservationists said there were no rooms available at the gov rate for all of the nights of our stay. I must have called the S/D number a dozen times over a two week period.

Also, both Swan and Dolphin are primarily convention hotels. Having arranged a convention myself at another location, the more popular destinations book conventions 2 or more years in advance. Some as much as 5 years in advance. A block of rooms may have been set aside for a convention already. Usually, rooms are put back in the system as the dates get closer and there is a better idea of how many conventioneers will be attending. A lot of people have posted getting the Dolphin in July '04 on Priceline or Hotwire for as little as $79.00. So it probably is a conflict with a convention or your fellow runners may have snatched up all of the rooms for those dates.
