For Nassau, is the dolphin encounter in the Blue Lagoon $125 and the swim is over $400? Is the encounter worth the money, like do you get to get in with the dolphins? I am not really clear on what all it entails. Thank you!

The sea lion encounter is 115 and was just the best!! I think 400 is like the cost of a cruise, my helicopter in Kauai wasn't even that much!

If the dolphin encounter is like the sea lion, you will likely be in waist deep water petting and feeding them and signalling to do tricks.

I still recommend the sea lions because I have seen dolphins all over various ports but Nassau is the only one I have seen to offer sea lion hugs! Ah mazing!

If you don't get the info you need on here, you can call Blue Lagoon directly. We are looking at these same two options and I called to ask some questions. I found a toll free number. I think it was on their website. :D

Hi! This is my first post! We just went on the Disney Dream this past weekend and it was absolutely wonderful. We ended up doing the Dolphin Encounter. It was like $120 per person. You meet up in the D Lounge, and the people from the Blue Lagoon take you on a boat to their really nice private little Island. There you get a small talk about dolphins, and they explain the rules a bit. You then go over to the pools where the dolphin encounter takes place. You go waste deep in the water you get to interact with a dolphin. They let you give the dolphin a kiss on the beak. The dolphin will come up onto your shoulder and give you a hug. you get to feed the dolphin a piece of fish. run the dolphin on it's back, belly, teeth, and tongue. and you even grab the dolphin's fins and he'll dance with you a little bit.

The only difference between the swim and the encounter was that in addition to everything I just explained you get to do a swim which is where the dolphin will push you across the water while you're swimming...also the swim is in much deeper water and you wear life jackets.

All in all, I am really glad I did the encounter. it was really awesome. I brought a waterproof camera and got really awesome shots.

if you can catch the early excursion, then you can spend the rest of the day hanging out on the beach on the blue lagoon island which was really nice. they have ferries going back to the boats throughout the day, the last one leave at about 4:00pm.

The $400 price didn't sound right to me, so I checked DCL's site. They list the cost of the encounter for adults as $125 and the cost of the swim for adults as $199. I'm not saying that's cheap, but it's certainly better than $400! My DH and DD (8 at the time) did the dolphin swim at Blue Lagoon when we were on the Dream in Feb 2012. They had an absolutely amazing experience. I went along as an observer and get lots of great photos. Here is a link to BL's web site where you can get more info:

DH and DD spent lots of time in the water interacting with the dolphins. The highlights were dancing with them and, of course, the foot push at the end. I wasn't sure my DD would go through with it, but she did. We ended up buying the video, and at the end of the foot push you can hear her say "That was AWESOME!" It was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience that she will never forget.

Pretty much a ditto for everything Lisa Lisa said. We did the swim and I recall it being about $200/person going through DCL. Yes, it's expensive and I don't think I'll need to do it again, but it was a fantastic experience that my family will forever remember.

The encounter is $120/pp, the swim $199. For the encounter, you (family or group) are on a platform and the dolphins swim up to you (sort of a U shaped dock like you'd use with a small water ski boat on a dock. The dolphins swim in an out of this platform, and you remain on the platform. Lots of touching and hugging, but no swimming. I think each group gets about 20-30 minutes. Kids can sit on the dry upper level of the dock and only get in the water for their turn with the dolphins if that's what you want. The platform is about knee/thigh deep for an adult, but of course can be neck deep for a small child. They take group pictures.

For the swim, the 9-10 people are in the water, treading water with a lifejacket on, for the hour or more. A lot more swimming by you. One child was in my daughter's group and both her parents were there helping her. She was probably about 8 and I wouldn't go much younger than that unless the child was big and a very good swimmer, mostly because my daughter did get cold after a while. The dolphins swim back and forth in front of the group and there is hugging and dancing, etc. At the end, the dolphins push you across the pen. They take 'family' pictures, but of course you are neck deep in water.

We've done both an encounter and swim. My son did encounters at Grand Cayman and Cozumel when he was two and three. I did have to hold him the whole time since it was too deep but he LOVED it. He has just turned six and we are doing the full swim in August at Blue Lagoon. Expensive, but worth it!

Thank you so much!!!
I know I saw the $400 somewhere...who knows! But your right I rechecked and it is $199...
That explains it better to me. I think my 5 yr. old might be too young/scared to do the swim. But my 8 and 10 yr. old might like it...but I don't want to split up because I want watch all 3 kids! SO maybe we will stick with the encounter. ANd try to get the early booking like you recommended.
Thanks again!!

Thanks for all the great info! It nice to get input form people who have don it before spending $125 x 4... :thumbsup2

They let you take your camera in? I thought that wasn't allowed. If it is allowed, I'm so glad I have my waterproof camera!!!

Yes, they had absolutely no problem with me taking my camera in. Many other folks had waterproof cameras too. Of course they have you pose for their camera too and try to sell you photos and dvds after you're done. We did end up buying one picture, but I must have snapped 20 or so pictures myself.
