For Part One of our Dolphin Delirium (arrival day, resort review, etc.) Click here!
Since we went to bed so early last night, we were up early this morning (early to bed, early to rise, I always say!) at 7:30.
DS#1 and I opted for breakfast in the room. I had my usual chocolate Balance Bar, spring water and coffee, and DS#1 had a brownie we bought at Gooding's yesterday. DH and DS#2 decided to check out one of the restaurants downstairs, and ate at the Coral Cafe. They both enjoyed the food there very much.
We were at the Dolphin bus stop to the Magic Kingdom by 9:45. With no more early entry at any of the parks, there's really no incentive to be there any earlier than when the park opens. We could've been out the door earlier, but we really just wanted to take it easy. No rush, no worries!
Upon arrival (and bag check at the security set-up) we walked directly to Space Mountain. No fast pass was necessary! After the Haunted Mansion, we went to make our lunch reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern. We've never had a problem with same day reservations, and got just the time we wanted, 12:00 noon!
It was a beautiful sunny warm day and the park was pretty crowded today (being a Saturday and all.) We also noticed lots of "cheerleader/dance group" types, young girls, hair perfectly done, some had their team's logo written across their tee-shirts. All were very well behaved!
After Big Thunder Mountain (rode twice in a row!) and an old fashioned train ride around the park it was lunch time!
We always make it a point to have lunch here at least once, and we are always pleased. We never walk away hungry! DH and I got the same thing, the Pilgrim's Feast and both DS's got something off the kid's menu. Hot rolls with an apple butter/butter mixture are brought out before the entrees. On past visits, it was a little tub of regular butter, and a little tub of apple butter. Our waitress said they combined the two into one. DH was very disappointed, as he prefers his apple butter straight up! She did mention that starting Monday, they were going back to apple butter and regular butter in separate tubs.
The Pilgrim's Feast consists of several BIG slices of turkey, mashed potatoes, and a veggie that changes every time we are there. Today it was cubed root vegetables, very different and very delicious. It tasted like sweet potatoes, turnips, squash, and something else, all subtly seasoned with basil, oregano and butter. We always ask for extra gravy, and it's always brought out piping hot, and in a good sized gravy tureen. Our waitress (her name was Bonnie by the way) told us they had changed the recipe for the gravy, that we would like it better, and better it was! It was so good, we asked for more! It didn't taste so "commercialized" it tasted homemade! We are always too full for dessert after our "feast"! Delicious as always! When we arrived, the restaurant was only about 15% full. As we were leaving, it was standing room only in the lobby! Total cost of our meal, before tip; $46.46.
We needed to walk off some of that turkey so we opted to leave the MK (not before peeking into a few of the gift shops!) and monorail on over to Epcot!
Our first stop was to visit our Leave a Legacy photo we had taken of the boys in January 2000.
Then it was on to Spaceship Earth! It was a walk-on (as usual) and then we immediately headed for Test Track, which we knew we'd need a fast pass for. Did Universe of Energy, Ice Station Cool, Innoventions, etc.
We stayed at Epcot the rest of the day, right up to the Tapesty of Dreams parade. I also managed to pick up another bottle of my favorite perfume from Norway, Laila! If you like a clean and light fragrance, this one is for you! I've been asked many times "what perfume are you wearing?" I tell them "just a little something I picked up in Norway!" I also make sure to ask if it's too offensive, and I always get very positive comments on how nice it is, "like you've just stepped out of a really nice shower" was one comment. You can find it in the Puffin's Roost as you exit Maelstrom.
Here we are just relaxing a bit before grabbing the Friendship Boat back to the Dolphin. DS#1 looks a bit tired, or bored! I can't remember which!
After our return to the Dolphin we stopped in some of the little stores in the lobby, picked up some candy at Indulgences, admired the fountain and returned to our impeccably cleaned room and waited for the fireworks from Illuminations to start!
A perfect ending to a perfect day!
