We are heading south to HH for Halloween. Has anyone done a dolphin cruise there? What company have you "cruised" with? Are dolphins around at that time of year? My daughter loves dolphins - so this would be a great activity for us. Thanks for the info!

We did this last March. Organized by the resort. Small boat holds 6-8. It will be very cool on the water. Slow start but we did see lots of activity eventually. There are other (larger) boats you can cruise with - not sure where they are located though. It is a nice activity but I would look for a warm day.

The waters around HH are home to about 300 dolphin who are there year round. At times this number is much greater due to migratory pods that venture thru the area.

We've enjoyed the Dolphin cruise on two trips with Low Country Tours- scheduled right thru the resort. These are for groups up to 6 guests and , IMO, are nicer than the larger ships since the captain can get you right up to the dolphin (some will even come right up to the boat). Look for Blackbeard and Nick (both named for obvious reasons!).

There is usually a DVC discount if you take the tour on Member's Day (Wednesday) at the resort.

Enjoy!

We had Scott from Low Country Tours and he was the BEST!! The tour was fun and relaxing. He knows a lot about the area, dolphins, and the water conditions. We saw lots of dolphins. We were there in April of this year. Like the earlier poster said, the larger boats can't go out as far in the sound and they can't get as close to the dolphins. It was a little pricy, about $150 for family of 5, but well worth it!!

Have fun! HH is a great resort and the beach house is really nice too. We can't wait to go back this coming April!

My boys are looking forward to a dolphin cruise next week. I hope the weather is OK.

:sunny: Think SUN!:sunny:

Would you recommend booking ahead of time or should there be availability when we arrive? We'll be there during Thanksgiving and I know the resort is packed that week.

Thanks,
PJ
