dolphin and swan

Are dolpin and swan now owed by disney? I know in the past they were owned by I think Sheraton. Last week I noticed the signs on the bus stops said walt disney swan and dolpin. I am
confused.

The WDW Swan and Dolphin are not Disney-owned properties. Both are Starwood hotels, and used to be known by their "brand" names of Westin (Swan) and Sheraton (Dolphin).

I believe they have always been referred to as the "Walt Disney World Swan or Dolphin" but they were owned/operated by the Westin and the Sheraton. Starwood bought both the Westin and the Sheraton so currently they are both owned and operated by Starwood.

We just got back from our first stay at the Dolphin and loved it. We have already booked our next stay for Feb 1st through the 6th of 2003.

OY! We've disagreed previously about the "ownership" issue. Tishman Hotel Corporation is one of the owners: http://www.tishmanhotels.com/portfolio.html
I seriously doubt that Starwood owns all the buildings in its family, but it does have some managerial responsibility over the Swan/Dolphin. Suffice it to say that Disney does NOT own the hotels, though it leases the land to the owners.

I stand corrected. I forgot about that debate about Tishman vs Starwood.

A very reliable source has confirmed that Tishman owns the buildings and Starwood manages them.
