Dolphin and SPG Upgrades

Hi!

I just signed up for a SPG card so I have the basic card. Would I still qualify for an upgrade since we're SPG members? Or should I get the Amex card to get the 10,000 pts and pay for the upgrade with points. And if you use points, do you have to do that by a certain time or can you do that at check in?

You may get an upgrade, you may not. If you want one, get the points. We got the Amex card, 1st trip we earned points to upgrade our room, this trip we've managed to earn enough points to pay for all 8 nights. I'm pretty sure you don't need the upgrade points until you arrive.
