Anyone visited the Dollywood Splash Country water park? If so, how does it compare to the Disney water parks or Aquatica? What things should I know for a first visit since I live in Tennessee and plan to go someday.

Other than theming, it compares quite well imo. They have a lot of good slides to do, lots of kids stuff all over the place, family slides and a water coaster. They have a lazy river and they have a wave pool as well. One thing though. When they first open for the season, the water is very cold. Also weekends are more crowded than weekdays and many weekenders do Dollywood first and Splash Country second. Reverse order may get you less crowds and during the week gets you a bit less as well. As the water rides have come out of Dollywood, they have kept adding more to splash country. All in all I heartily suggest it. You'll have a good time. As for the food, well it's food only in the academic sense. It will fill you up. It won't kill you. The food over at Dollywood is much better.

We really like Splash Country. It is clean, has lots of shade, and is nicely themed. There are activities for most ages. Lines for the slides can get long, and they are not as efficient with getting people through the lines quickly. My biggest complaint with both Dollywood and Splash Country has always been that the employees take their time and do not move crowds as quickly as they could. I am from Tennessee. I get it. They are very friendly and welcoming and people-oriented. But they aren't as time-conscious as I would like them to be sometimes. Still, it is a very nice water park. I have been several times and always enjoyed it.

It is worth the cost.

Hopefully they are able to open by June. I know Pigeon Forge is opening up very soon and I am sure the chamber of commerce is encouraging Herschend Family Entertainment to get Dollywood and Splash Country open as soon as possible. Pigeon Forge and Sevierville really depend on those tourist dollars.

Thank you! This helps a lot. I do hope both parks open soon and safely. My wife and I love taking our son to Pigeon Forge, but have not been to Dollywood or Splash Country since moving to Tennessee a few years ago.

Thank you for your reply. I am happy to hear that it sounds like a fun water park.

I hope you are enjoying Tennessee. I love Tennessee. I have been gone for over twenty years, but I still consider it my home. I go back to visit family regularly.

If you are far enough away from Pigeon Forge to get a hotel, then the Dreammore Resort is a wonderful place to stay. We stayed there several times, even though my parents only lived an hour and a half away. It compares to a Disney deluxe resort, though it is much smaller- and much cheaper. Like Universal, they have a free quick queue (sort of like a fastpass and sort of like an express pass- but it is not as efficient as the express pass or the fastpass) if you stay at the resort. But it only works for the theme park- not for the water park. You have to purchase a quick queue for the water park if you want one.

My family and I love Tennessee. This will have lived here 3 years in September. We live about 2.5 hours from Pigeon Forge so it is driveable, but more relaxing to stay overnight. I have seen info about the Dream More Resort and it looks great. Thanks so much for the information. I grew up going to Orlando with my family while living in Alabama. I love Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld. Pigeon Forge is different from the whole Florida/Orlando atmosphere, but is still a great getaway close by.
