Dollar Upgrade Question

On a recent trip we had rented a minivan from Dollar for 17 day at $199/wk. At the counter we were offered an "upgrade" to a Grand Caravan for $5/day more with the pitch that it was bigger and had car seat built into the seat. In the pick up garage we noticed all the minivans in sight were Grand Caravans. Was this upgrade really necessary? To me it seemed that had we not agreed we would have gotten the same Grand Caravan in the end anyway. Also for the next time does Dollar rent any minivans besides Grand Caravans?

I agree you probably would have gotten the upgrade for free. Your price was still good, I wouldn't sweat it.

According to their website they rent the regular Caravans. It's possible they have a few regulars set aside for people who don't want to upgrade or would have had you wait a few minutes while they got a regular Caravan from the other side of the airport.
