I know a lot of people buy there glow necklaces, bracelets etc... before their trip. I was in today and they had a big display of all kinds of glow stuff out for the fourth of July. Just thought I would pass it on- I bought a bunch to take on our trip.

Just so you know, they cannot be put into carry-on luggage :(.

Thank You! I did not know that. I think I'm going to stick them into the box I send to myself at the resort. That way I don't have to pack them in with any luggage. Thanks, Dana

interesting that they can't go into your carry on... wonder why?

thanks for the post, OP! i'm going to check out the dollar tree on monday! i got a few 2-pack glow sticks at the target dollar spot last week, but want some bracelets and maybe necklaces!

:)

I got the ones at TArget to take with us last week, they were great cause they were in a tube and you can link 2 together to make a necklace,, HUGE savings and happy kid

The Dollar Tree ones are nice, but you get an even better value at Michael's. IIRC, there are 6/$1 at DT, but at Michael's you can get 15/$1 in their dollar bins. I haven't been able to find them cheaper anywhere without buying them in huge quantities.

When I pack ours we just placed them in the carry on in the kids luggage, I don't see what the issue would be.

Due to the liquid inside the glow sticks they should not be permitted by TSA to go in carry on luggage. The only liquids permitted have to be in a quart size ziplock bag. One bag permitted per passenger. The containers in the ziplock also have to be 3 oz. or less.

Check them in your checked luggage. If they are spotted during carry on screening TSA will confiscate them. We all know how "dangerous" glow sticks can be.:rotfl2:

If the containers had the ounces marked on them it would be easier (if they'd fit in the 311 bag). But I like getting through security quickly, so I don't take the "risk" of carrying them on and having them go through my bag. Having an oddly shaped mp3 player caused them enough stress one time!

I too like the Michael's deal and brand better. I had a ton of duds from the dollar store, but the Michael's sticks are good to go, even though I've had them for more than a year.

I never check a bag and always carry these in my carry on bag - is this new?
Glow sticks contain liquid. All liquids should be in your 3-1-1 quart bag and an unactivated glow stick necklace is too long to fit in a quart bag. So ... if you pack glow slicks in your carry-on you are breaking the TSA's rule on carry-on liquids and you risk having your bag torn apart and being searched yourself if they detect the glow sticks in your luggage. Personally, a few glow sticks are not worth the hassle to me.

PS: It feels like I am talking to my dyslexic self ... "robinb" to "robind" :rotfl:.

Thanks op! I need to get some for DD to take to girl scout camp next week.:goodvibes
