Dollar/Thrifty

Any difference between the Dollar/Thrifty? I am getting the same great rate at both - $85 for the week before fees (full size). What about the Wild Card or Lock Low and Go deal? Any experience there? Is one program better? I can get those for $77 and they guarentee at least a compact or highter. Also to add, we are family of 4 (teenage kids) and we are flying into Tampa (for the first time) which is why we are renting the car.

ETA - I also have Budget booked at the same rate - $85 for full size

They are essentially the same company. I have rented for both with no issues. I like them for allowing me to choose my own car. When I asked about the lock low and go rate, I was told that more often than not, you end up with a compact. I would think that with 2 teenagers, you would want a bigger vehicle. If so, book one so that it is guaranteed.

I just changed my reservation from thrifty because of the cost of their EZ Pass system. I know driving from the airport we always go through the tolls and don't want to stop and pay. Thrifty charges you $15 a day or $43 a week to use their system. For me that added up to over $80 in additional fees for something I know I'll use.

Good feedback. Thanks. I have a full size booked with dollar and the wild card booked with thrifty. The full size is $17 more for the week. I am inclined to roll the dice on the wild card since if push came to shove, we could live with a compact for the week.
