Dollar Rental - Dollar Express Members

Hi:
We have been renting from Dollar for many years and are Express Members. I am trying to book a rental for the end of July and beginning of August. I went into the site and put in the dates, etc. and noticed that if I do Pay Now on a Standard Car, my rate would be $788.69. However, when I entered the same dates as an Express Member, the rate for a Standard Car is $872.63. I called Customer Service and asked why the option to pay now is not available to Express Members. I was told that that is their policy. I then inquired as to why a possible one time renter would be given a better deal than a long time Express Member. I explained I didn't understand why I wouldn't be offered the same deal. The only way to get the $788.69 deal is to book without the Express sign in. I told the CS person that I felt that it seemed unfair to Express Members who have been loyal to Dollar. She seemed to get agitated with me and just repeated that that is their policy. I did not get angry or aggressive at any point in the conversation. I believe in always being polite and courteous and treat people the way I want to be treated. Her attitude and their policy has me questioning whether I will continue to rent from Dollar. We have been renting from them at least twice a year for many years.

I understand the frustration, but it’s not surprising that people on the phone can’t tell you why a certain price is higher than something else. It’s out of their hands and determined by the system algorithm.

If you want that price, then just book whatever way is cheapest in the end.

I plan to check other sites first and if I can't find a better deal, I will book the cheaper way.
