Are spouses covered as a second driver if you enroll in Dollar's Fastlane program?

Thanks!

I think so, but, better to read the rules online about Fastlane.

Last time I checked (more than a year ago) there was a fee (in Orlando) for the additional driver even if the driver was your spouse and even if you were a member of Fastlane. The policy varies by location.

I wound up renting with National to avoid the problem.

Even with FASTLANE they WILL charge for 2nd driver, even if it is a spouse. I called to make sure for my August ressie. I desperately want to use National, but a minivan for a week is still $600 or something, which is ridiculous. It would be far less to rent 2 smaller cars! Maybe I will DO that, but I don't want to.

(tried all codes, but will continue to try)

No charge for additional drivers if you're a member of their "Silver Dollar Club" (50+ years old) or if you reserve under their government rate program (which includes govt contractors). Not sure about any others, but I've reserved under these 2 programs for our extended family trip coming up this XMAS.

Thanks everyone for their responses.

mareed My husband is a government employee. Can you reserve as a government employee for leisure (non business) use?

Thanks!

Warining! Most of the corporate rates (which I would think the Govt rate qualifies as) allow second drivers IF the second driver is employed by the corporation. So my coworkers can drive my rental car with no issues. Be sure and ask if the second driver can be a spouse in these situations.

ttfn3 - If you click on "Specials" on the Dollar site, and then go to the bottom and click on "Government Programs", there are different categories to select from including "U.S. govt. employee, contractor, or retiree enjoying leisure travel". If you select this, the next page lists some benefits including:
- A preferential Government leisure rate (it was 5% off)
- No charge for additional drivers.

Since it's a govt. leisure rate, I'd think the additional driver would be expected to be a spouse or someone other than a co-worker. We're planning on my driving without an additional charge.

I'll report back after we use it, but it's almost 6 months from now.
