I will be travelling to the Los Angeles/Anaheim area from Aug. 2-9 with my wife and 2 daughters (ages 2&4). We are flying into LAX and I currently have a mid-sized SUV booked through Dollar for $267 taxes/fees included. However, after reading many of the reviews on Dollar, I am now considering changing to Alamo (have the same SUV booked for $370 taxes/fees included).
Is Dollar really that bad?
Is Alamo really that good?
Can I expect to find a better price in the next 3 weeks or is this the typical average price?

The $100 price difference is closer to $135 for me with the exchange rate.

Dollar isn't really that bad. Alamo isn't really that good. I'd go with the better price. And yes, it is possible that prices will change (up or down) in the next 3 weeks. Book the best rate you can find now and check regularly for a better price.

Make sure you sign up for Dollar Express (it's free) before you go so you can skip the massive line inside and head directly outside to the window there to get your car (even if it's not on your reservation - so don't worry about adding it because it could change your rate) . I've rented 5 or 6 times from Dollar LAX over the last 2 years with no problems.
