Dollar minivans...how many carseats??

For those who've used the mini-vans with Dollar. I believe I read that they have built in car seats.....if so, how many? Also, are they appropriate for the 40-60 pound kids as well as the 20-40lbs set?

I called Dollar to aska nd of course got the infamous different answers! one agent told me one built in and then another agent told me two. I guess thats what I get for calling twice!

Not all minivans have built in car seats. Some manufacturers have elminated the option completely. If you really need to have a car seat this may be something to consider. I have rented minivans from Dollar that had them, when others did not.

And they don't guarentee them. So if the minivan is putting you over the top in the price catagory you can't count on getting a built in seat. You'll have to put aside money just in case.

I have only seen the Chevy Ventures, not sure if that is what they carry or not, but the ones I have seen only had 1 built in seat, it was in the seat behind the front passenger.

We have rented with dollar three times and requested minivans with built in car seats. We received what we asked for each time There are two built in to the middle seat. They say they cannot guarantee it, but I don't think they have vans without them since all the models I have seen have them. It is worth the extra money not to lug carseats!!! Good luck.

I'm not sure about the built in availability with Dollar, but I can tell you that the built in seats are just booster seats to help the seat belt fit better, so they are not approved for use for children who weigh less than 40 lbs.

On our last trip, we forgot to take one of carseats. I called Dollar that morning and was told that we could have a minivan with car seats. When we arrived they mistakenly assigned us a van w/o built in carseats. They gladly reassigned us one that did have them when we told them. For our next trip, they said they cannot guarantee built-ins ahead of time but I can call the Orlando Airport Dollar directly the morning of our arrival and they will save us one if they have one available that day. Else, we will bring our own seats because I have not heard good things about the seats that they rent for $5 a day.
