The current stumble will correct when people stop panicing about the latest stuff.

I just keep thinking about how great the dollar is....I remember going to Florida when the dollar was only $.60, so even with the dollar still being over $.90, I am still happy....But, not surprised with what the banks are doing in the USA. I don't anticipate a huge fall, but I was expecting a fall none-the-less.

Just great!!!! We leave next Thursday for WDW and I have not exchanged any money yet.

The dollar started to rebound late today, Thursday Aug.16th so don't panic yet the dollar usally rises or falls on Mondays when the stats are released. The July stats are due on Monday and with the price of oil and natural gas rising the dollar should gain by as much as a quarter of a cent.
I exchanged on Tuesday at 1.054 on the dollar so it's still good.

the dollar is still better than it has been in the recent past. We are cruising DCL in Jan 08. We are taking everybody in our family, 8 of us in total, so we need the dollar to be high until the trip is paid off.

It is actually a good thing. We have money invested into small oil and gas ventures and it is a good time to invest in in anything with a solid background as the people who did panic and sell off have temporarily lowered the prices on some great stocks right now! The dollar will rebound. The US is facing a pretty significant downturn. I was reading the other night their is 500,000 homes in foreclosure in the US right now.
The frenzied growth in the economy has finally taken a breather in Calgary and I cannot see the dollar dropping again ever like it did in the 80's.

The CAN dollar closed up on friday at 94.22 cents US.
Don't panic the markets will get back to normal levels after this turblence blows over. A lot of media hype!

$200 worth of travelers cheques cost $215.70 (1.0785%)

and $178.45 got us $165.00US (1.0815%)

Not as good as last week, but still really good!! (paid $29.15 extra on $394.15)
