Just wanted to let everyone looking know that I got a 12 passenger van for Aug 18th - Aug 27th (9 days) for $669.24 inclusive of taxes at Dollar, using the Orlando convention and visitors bureau (must print orlando magiccard) corporate discount of oi1054. The rate for other vehicles started at $148 per week for economy. I have tried this rate code before and never gotten this deal. Hope someone else can use it. Good luck!

I got this rate too. I am hoping it comes down!:headache:

Really? We were going to rent 2 vehicles, one minivan, and a standard for our group of 9. I had the minivan at about $258 per week plus 2 days and taxes+ and it added up to about $450. And the standard was running $179 per week, plus 2 days and taxes+ and it added up to about $350. This way we are saving about $130. The best rate I had seen for a 12 passenger before this was $699 a week, and by the time it all added up it was over $1100.:scared1:

You can get the same van for $648.19 here:

Just use the search on the right hand side of the page and search for a minivan. It will bring up all van sizes. Thrifty is cheaper.

That's a good deal, but I think I'm going to stay with what I know. It seems this is also a magiccard rate. I'm just a little afraid of Thrifty, I don't really know why (did see quite a few bad reviews) but I have dealt with Dollar many times, and been satisfied. Thanks for trying, and maybe someone else will benefit.

Dollar and Thrifty are the same company, and Ive rented from Thrifty before. They were great, except they are not on MCO property. Our flight arrives at almost midnight and I would hate to wait in the airport with five kids while my DH runs to get the car off lot.:scared1:

Thrifty are now at the terminal. They are the same company and you would be renting exactly the same vehicle.

Wow, now I feel dumb, or at least ignorant. I didn't know that. I thought it was strange that the rates went down so much at the same time with the same type of offer. Thank you.

Switched to Thrifty for the $20 discount plus free extra driver. Only other difference is they took a credit card for the reservation and charge 1 day fee if you don't show.

Have you checked codes on Mousesavers.com? We used Dollar in Nov., and got a minivan for about $270 for the week (by far best deal we found)using a code from there (OOAG/OCVB?) We rented off-site from Regal Sun Resort in DTD,as we had ME from airport, and didn't need it right away. There is lots of info on there, like who is the same company(like Dollar/Thrifty), and who is most reliable in Orlando, etc. Hope this helps!

I rebooked since I know its in the terminal now!:upsidedow:

I am still hoping to find it lower. I paid 376.00 in 2006 for the same van. I booked like 3 days before I left. Does Thrifty charge you for cancelling? I hope not.:worship:

For guaranteed reservations with Thrifty:

Credit card guaranty on advance reservations and one day charge for no show unless cancelled 24 hours prior to pick up.

Many rental companies require guaranteed reservations on specialty vehicles. If you find a better rate just make sure you cancel more than 24 hours in advance and you will be fine.
