I have a glowing report to make on Dollar's Fast Lane. We had reserved a full-size for nine days beginning on August 11 (the rate--this is from memory--$118 for the week, plus $26 for each of the two additional days). I signed up for Fast Lane in advance--you have to do this by mail, because they require a signature. Check out Dollar's website for instructions on how to do it.
When we arrived at MCO, there were maybe 30-40 people in line for Dollar. There was nobody in the Fast Lane. I went there, and was immediately summoned by an agent. She didn't try to sell me insurance or gas, because my preferences were already on record. She asked if I wanted to upgrade the car, and I said, "Only if it's free." She then tapped on her computer, and said, "Since you're Fast Lane, I'm going to upgrade you to a minivan so you don't have to wait for a full-size." We then walked out, picked up the keys to a Dodge Caravan, and drove away. No surprises on the rate when we returned it either. Total cost for nine days, including all the taxes, was slightly over $200.
I suspect the upgrade may have been because they didn't have any full-size cars around, but whatever the reason, we were pretty darn happy.
