From past experience I know that the queues for car rental at MCO can vary from nil to humongous....

Got pre-paid car rental booked through dollar (via carrentals.co.uk). Is it worth joing dollar express? Can I even use this on a prepaid rental?

Also, do you need to wait for membership card in the post ? (going Sunday)

Yes its worth registering. Saved me hours and hours of lining up at the desk. At MCO you now go straight out to the garage with Express membership.
I have been registered a few years now but at the time they gave you a temp card to print off while the card came thru the post.

Thanks Wayne. Registered yesterday and they say they process your registration in a few days...

Always seems that at MCO, theres always a huge queue or no queue.

So with my Dollar Express card in my hand I just head out to where the cars are...and then what? Are there any signs telling you where to go exactly?

My holiday is getting so close now I want to tie up all the odds and ends! :thumbsup2

Goto where the Dollar cars are in the garage (well signed) there is a kiosk, its split in 2 half Dollar Express & half Thrifty, as Easter the Dollar side was busy so I was called over to Thrifty's side(all same company) hand in your voucher & Express card/number and they will process you there.

Yes definitely, as long as you have a booking with Dollar and have joined the Express club, you can use that queue :goodvibes

Unfortunatley it depends on the staff on duty. Couple of years ago Nigel(DISwolves) was infront of me in the express line, he was with a Virgin package and they would not process his booking, had to goto the Virgin desk. Over the years there has been a few posts about it, I would say 50/50 are successful. When the Express line was part of the regular desk it was not so bad, get turned down and you just walked across to the Virgin desk, now it the send you back its a pain to have to go back inside the terminal.
Is it a Dollar booking you have with Virgin? I thought they had changed to Alamo now.:confused3

Xmas 2008 I had an argument with a Virgin rep on arrival. She saw my Virgin docs and said I had to goto the Virgin desk, I told her I booked my car seperate and had Dollar Express, she was adamant I still had to use the Virgin desk and told me they would not serve me at the regular desk. My car hire had nothing to do with Virgin so no idea why she got so shirty with me.

The disadvantage of using virgin for car hire. Everyone gets off the plane and piles into the same queue because they've all got the same car hire.

Hope you told the virgin rep to get lost. None of their business of car hire was booked independently.

wayne has it changed then? as usually you go to the dollar desk in the airport. now is it straight to the car hire? is it because you choose your own car

I have never got on that well with holiday reps so yes I told her she didn't know what she was talking about.:rotfl:

Yes from Earlier this year the moved the Express out to the garage. It had changed for our Easter trip, not sure of the exact date.

I'm wondering the same here Netty :confused3

Last October we went straight the Dollar Express desk within the airport and then to the car hire outside to collect the car.

Are there signs there now telling you to go outside if you are express, I would hate to go straight outside to be told to go back in.

I had read about it on here but there was also a sign at the Dollar desk saying Express members had to go out to the Garage Kiosk.

hi Wayne, yes our package is through Travel City Direct, flights with Virgin & car hire with Dollar, havnt recieved any documents as yet so presume it is still with Dollar, we'll probably be at the back of the que then as have never travelled to Florida before so wont have a clue where we are going or what we are doing when we land!!!

Just had a look at their online brochure, still showing Dollar. Its a straight forward system you will be fine. Not sure how busy the Dollar desk gets for TCD, most people rent seperate to the holiday so I wouldn't expect it to be that busy.

thanks. lets hope so!

When we were there at christmas on the way out there it was a vigin dollar desk and on way back was a virgin alamo desk and virgin dollar one was gone......i though they had changed now.

We booked our car with VH a couple of weeks ago and it's with Alamo.

Was told on this dis that if you use the online checkin for the car you print something off at home and take it straight to the garage avoiding the desk and queue. Sounds good to me! :thumbsup2
