Dollar Express - Free Upgrade ?

I just signed up for the Dollar Express program. It is my understanding that I will receive in the mail a coupon for a free upgrade. I want an intermediate car, which I guess means I should reserve a compact and take advantage of the free upgrade. Does anybody know or care to guess what the chances are of there being no intermediate cars available, which means I'd be stuck with the compact? Thanks.

I can't say what the chances would be, but let me tell you that they are very flexible! They may double upgrade you! Last November, we rented a standard SUV and used the coupon to upgrade to a large SUV. The coupon says, upgrades up to a full size...yet they honored it!

Thanks very much for the quick reply. That's actually very good news. I've rented with Dollar before and have never been dissatisfied with their service, but I always reserved exactly what I wanted and so the upgrade was never a question. I'm going to chance it because the prices are not all that great right now, so I'd love to get the intermediate car for the compact price. Thanks again.

I have been pleased with Dollar, too! Everyone of my rentals have been upgrades. I have rented a minivan 3 times in the for the past three years. Each time the reservation said Dodge Caravan. When I got to the counter, they had a Dodge Grand Caravan waiting for me. It was especially helpful with the number of passengers that we had.
what I like more than the upgrades is the fact that you can go thru the Express line and they have your information and vehicle waiting for you. You are in and out in only a few minutes. Last year, we arrived late in the evening. All of the rental companies were swamped and yet, I was able to walk up and sign my agreement, pick up my keys all before my luggage was out on the conveyor.
