Hi all, we are renting a car from Dollar this year and were wondering if the rental processes is the same as Alomo's. We will be picking the car up at MCO and returning it back there after our stay. We have used Alomo in the past but we got a better deal through Dollar this trip. We are just wondering if we can pick the car we want or do they bring it up to the front and you are stuck with that one? Who has used Dollar before and how was your experince. Thanks for the help

I don't use Dollar all that often, probably the same as you only when they have a better deal than Alamo.
Some differences that I recall are:
1. They do not have kiosk, unless they have added them recently.
2. You do not get to choose your car as you do at Alamo, you will be given the keys and it's location in the garage, to a particular car when you leave the counter. That's not to say you can't change it after seeing it, but you would have to go to the desk in the garage and have to have them change the car. Never did it so I don't know if it's like starting over.
3. As far as my experience with Dollar goes, I have never had a problem with them. Some have reported that some of their counter reps can be hard sell on the insurance, but I never experienced it.

I was about to use Dollar for my upcoming trip in Nov until Alamo came out with a better deal, so I'm now back with Alamo, but if Dollar drops I'll be back with them. It's all about the price to me, I'm not hung up on what kind of a car it is or what it looks like, it's just transportation to me. I'm not buying it, just borrowing it.

Thanks for the info. We are also traveling in Nov. 11-21, but my wife hasn't been able to get Alomo cheaper. I would prefer to use Alomo since I've used them in the past and had good luck. So if you don't mind me asking when are you traveling and did you just go through the Alomo website? Or did you use a code you found on-line? Again thanks for th info:thumbsup2

Looks like your rental will be for 10 days depending on pikup and drop off times.
What size car are you looking for, and what sort of price were you hoping for.

I did a search for you at Alamo using a pickup time of 10am on 11/11 and drop off of 6pm on 11/21 making it an 11 day rental and get $180.04 for a compact and $198.57 for midsize, incl taxes and fees. I don't thinks that's all that bad for 11 days.

As crazy as it sounds if you use 12 noon as the pickup and drop off times, making it a 10 day rental the price goes up to $192.85 and $218.78

I am picking up 11/20- 10am and dropping off 11/26- 6:30pm at MCO
Used Costco corp ID # 7014627 and coupon code # AD8221SDF.
It's still $123.89 incl taxes and fees midsize would be $137.70

So it's $57 more for 4 more days, based on a compact.

We usually use dollar, because I usually find them cheaper. Sadly, leaving tomorrow and the cheapest I found was through budget.
Anyway, they have a kiosk in the garage, you can use it if you're a dollar express member (only takes a few minutes to apply, just give a credit card and a license, on their website).
Of the last 3 times I've rented through them this year, twice they sent us down an aisle and could pick any car that was unlocked. Once they gave us a specific car, and my husband didn't like it, so he requested another, which they gave us.
Hopefully I have good luck with budget! The last time I rented through them, it took one hour in line!! Signed up with their rapid rez system but they won't let us use it for this rental without re-booking (which would be a higher price). I'm already not liking them. SIgh... But for me, it all comes down to the money! Even tried calling dollar last night to see if they would match the budget price, since we rent through them often, but no luck!
