Any thoughts on this company?

We've always used Alamo in the past, however I found a GREAT rate at Dollar and went ahead and cancelled my reservation with Alamo and booked with Dollar.

I'm hoping I made a good choice. It was a $140 different plus a free additional driver. Hopefully not to good to be true. LOL

If you sign up for Dollar express you get to check in at a shorter line. I was going to use Dollar this time, but then I got a last minute deal from Alamo so I switched. I like that Alamo lets me check in online and skip going to a counter, but for $140, I'd rent form Dollar, too! (jsut remember to keep checking Alamo's prices, they often drop the week before you leave, which is what happened to me. I had dollar booked for months, then hit an Alamo deal last week).

I always rent from National!!! But for our December trip, I just can't get a better deal than what I got with Dollar. $149 a week for a minivan and only $23 for each extra day...we are there for 10 days.

So, unless National comes up with something better, or close, we will be using Dollar for the first time. I plan to send DH and the kids on Magical Express to the resort and then I will get the car and meet them there. That will lesson the stress of having to go offsite to pick it up.

One bad thing about Dollar is they aren't easy about letting you use a debit card. My friend tried just two weeks ago and they wouldn't let them. It took them three HOURS to find all this out, with the long lines they had to stand it waiting for the shuttle and then at the rental office. They weren't happy at all.

Hey MemoryMaker2669:
Did you need a code or coupon to get such a great rate? We are going end of November/beginning of December, need a minivan and haven't been able to find such a great rate at Doller yet. Thanks for your help.

Try using discount code KISS2, that worked well for me. $264 for midsize car for 10 days Nov/Dec.

I used that code too and the corporate code: oi1054 It's for Magic Card members and you can download your own card for free Here

That will give you a free additional driver as well as some other things.

I ended up getting a mini-van for 10 days in October, tax and all... for $294.86.

We also have a car booked with Dollar but it is in with our room/ticket/meal plan booked thru Disney. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove it from my plan and rebook directly with Dollar? We are paying over $400 for a small car for a family of 5. We seriously need a mini van.

Ouch! I think you can do better than that booking it yourself too! I would try calling where you made the ressies through and see if they will allow you to remove the car from your plan...I don't know if they can...but it is definitely worth a try!

Good Luck!

I did, but I booked it all the way back in January! I just did it "in case" and it is looking right now like I made a great decision. The prices have come down, but just a couple months ago, a minivan at all the other places were running close to $1000 for that ten days. Absolutely ridiculous! Now though, you have to rent by the 14th it seems, we don't get there until the 16th!

Thanks bunches for all your suggestions/help. I tried to download a Magic Card, but couldn't get it to work, so I just completed the Mail Me a Card section. Do I need to wait until I have the card in hand to give a member number to something to call to get a corporate rate on an already existing reservation?

My sister's family and my family leave November 30th for our second "together" trip to Disney and she and I are too excited to sleep.... the other 5 family members just roll their eyes at us!!!

I thought Dollr was onsite at MCO. Is this incorrect ( I read it on mousesavers). We will be arriving late at night with 3 kids (one of them an infant) so I definitely do not want to have to take a shuttle offsite. Thanks for any info!

I'm not sure about an existing reservation, but when I made our reservations, it didn't ask for a number for the magic card discount. In fact, there is no number on our card. So I'm not sure.

I would think you could call them and ask them to add it. If not, you could always cancel your exising reservations and just rebook with the new codes.

HTH! :)

I thought they were onsite too. I'll call them directly and see what I can find out.

I too thought they were onsite. I only wanted to book with onsite.
I did call them a while ago and was assured they were onsite and that I did NOT have to take any shuttle to get the van. :moped:

That is correct...they are onsite. I used them in 2000 and 2004. In 2000 they were offsite, but in 2004 it was just a short walk from the counter to the garage all onsite at MCO. It was wonderful!

Oh, I am glad to hear they are onsite. Not sure why I thought they were offsite.

Great! Thank you for the info. I tried to call but kept getting the main dollar reservations place so I gave up. LOL
