I had 4 different rentals booked this past trip due to schedules,etc. 3 with Alamo,one with Dollar..... Dollar was really cheap but awful. When my DH got in line at MCO to pickup,it was about 30 people long,with one person working the counter. After waiting for 20 mins, the rep. said if they went to the other dollar counter in the other side of the airport somewhere, the line was shorter,so they walked over,and it was,only 6 people or so ahead of them (:rolleyes::crazy2:)
So that evening we dropped it near DTD at the hotel....what a pain. Drive up, get ticket to open gate from valet,drive around hotel,park car,walk back up the hill to go into lobby,wait around for 20 mins (there was a 'be back soon' sign on the unmanned desk) then another 20 minutes for them to process the car back in (lots of keyboard tapping and waiting)......:scared:not happening again.
I canceled our res. from Dollar to MCO for later that week,and booked Alamo out of the Dolphin for 5.00 more- 10 minutes,valet hands us the car,we're off,drop at MCO,all set!
FWIW, my Alamo res. from FLL-Dolphin went perfectly also...no issues at all. Lesson learned.:thumbsup2

We too don't like Dollar. Had a rental at Nashville airport. There was one person working the counter and she made everyone review on her computer screen the rental options the renter chose. Then proceeded to try and sell everyone all that unneeded insurance extra's. I know you make commission on selling this insurance but if someone says "NO" then leave it at that. Got out to the garage and they had no economy, compact or midsize cars. Just as we were inquiring they happened to bring around a compact car. This also happen a month prior when we went to Nashville - no cars to pick from.

I will stay away from them and continue to use Alamo.

The one and only time I reserved a car with Dollar the service at the counter was so bad/rude, that I walked away and went to National and rented on the spot without a reservation.
Dollar = Never Again!
