Doll clothes help!

The elf brought some doll clothes for their American Girl Dolls this morning. I bought them at Joann's and they are made by Fibre Craft / Springfield. They were inexpensive to begin with, and on sale, so I bought a bunch. Just noticed the tags say to wash before putting on doll and not leave on doll for an extended period (or something like that) to avoid staining of doll!!! Anyone out there have any of these clothes and have you had any problems? Did you wash them first? Some of them have sparkles/fur and I have a feeling they won't come out of the wash too well. I've always bought AG brand stuff, but figured this year might be the last year of AG in our house, so I cheaped out. I have about 6 other outfits wrapped under the tree already. Wondering if I should return them....

We have some of these and I honestly never read the tag. They have not been washed and have stayed on the dolls for weeks at a time with no issues.

How old are the kids? I know mine would not have appreciated the Springfield clothing, but it sure is more cost effective! Have you tried anything on the dolls? Sometimes the fit is not so great, but then again, some kids really don't care all that much about the quality- they just want lots of clothing options. If it were me though, I'd return the clothing and get something else.--Kathy
