I have a confession to make. I've been to WDW probably 20 times, and I've never had a Dole Whip. I intend to change that during my next visit. What guidance can you give me? Where is THE place to get one (I feel like it's available multiple places?) and what is THE way to order it (I feel like there are some variations, but maybe I'm wrong?). Thanks for your wisdom!

If you want the classic, iconic dole whip experience, you have to get it in Magic Kingdom. Get a float: pineapple dole whip in dole pineapple juice. The extra tart element from the juice helps balance the sweetness of the dole whip and make everything more pineapple-y. Disneyland is even better for this because you get an umbrella and a cherry in your floats, but that doesn't effect flavor. :P

After that, once you know if you like the classic, branch out! You can get it with rum in Animal Kingdom and I think Epcot. You can also get it at the pineapple lanai in the Polynesian. Try a swirl of vanilla and pineapple. But have the classic FIRST.

With dark rum at AK ::yes::

It's at Tamu Tamu Refreshments.

Do they serve it with the rum? Last time we were at Disney, we got dole whip floats at Poly and walked into the bar to order a shot to put in it LOL. I preferred the Malibu Run over the Dark, which is odd as normally I prefer dark rum.

Yes, you can get either dark rum or coconut rum, but they don't have floats, it's just the soft serve. I've had both but to me the dark rum goes better with it.

A float with a shot would be perfect!

I was the same way about having to try a Dole Whip, after having read the rave reports about them on the forums. I got the traditional one, soft serve in a cone, in Adventureland. OMG, it was sour! Could not believe the taste of it. I handed it over to DH, and it was even too tart for him. Ended up throwing the almighty Dole Whip in the trash!

Wasn't quite sure what the big deal was until I tried the Dole Whip Float instead of just the Dole Whip. It's simply perfect on a hot day. I think I like them as much as I do because the only place I've ever gotten them is WDW.

The best thing to do for your first ever dole whip adventure would be to purchase a dole whip in the Magic Kingdom in Adventureland, and then take it into the enchanted Tiki room and watch the show! :thumbsup2

I tried the Dole Whip float on my last trip out and ended up hating it. :( It was a hot night about ten minutes before the stand closed, and I went for the float thinking that the soft serve and pineapple juice would be the perfect thing to cool down with, but the pineapple juice was so warm it ended up doing the opposite. I still want to try the pineapple soft serve cone the next time I go, but I'm not holding out much hope for it. Guess I'm just more of a slushy girl.

Maybe you had the citrus swirl? I tried one and it was also super sour and I trashed it. Dole Whip is sweet though. I don't think you can get either one in a cone anywhere though.

The best place is now the Poly because you can get the pineapple vanilla swirl :) But if you are at the terrace bar, they have a spikey pineapple drink!

I always see the long lines at MK and don't want to wait. But I finally got to try one at the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot last year. It had rum. Delicious!

I've attempted to make them at home. They come close but not nearly as good.

The long lines at MK won't be as much of a problem now because they've added it to mobile ordering.

was thrilled to see that. last trip did not want to wait in a VERY long line for a Dole Whip; was needing to meet up with family for FP+.
line at AK as a lot shorter and I did get one there, with rum

I went to DW for the first time this July having heard about the Dole Whip but of course never having one.

Made a point of having one in the park and another at Poly. Found them both delicious. Had a float and fortunately both locales had cold pineapple juice.
I'll do it again in December but prolly w/o booze since it's late in the game for me to become a "girl drink drunk"....I'm not the only one who remembers Kids in the Hall, right?

LOL. So.... we have a soft serve ice cream place a quick walk from our house.... I had noticed last fall that it looked like they were advertising Dole pineapple soft serve.... I said to hubby on our way to get ice cream to celebrate our DD first day back at preschool that I *think* they have "Dole Whip" at Red's (name of the place). "We should get it" he said. We got. Yes, Dole pineapple soft serve.... And we were both HIGHLY underwhelmed by it... DD loved it though. LOL.

Where in MK can you get the Dole Whip? I know it's Adventureland, but wasn't sure exactly where. Thanks!
The place is called Aloha Isle. Like I said before, I highly recommend a float for the ideal and classic dole whip flavor. If you don't like the float, you probably just don't like dole whip, which is okay too!

I grew up with Dole Whip from Disney parks and the Dole plantation in Hawaii (I even called it Drool whip when I was little), so it has a place of nostalgia in my mind. While I'd like it either way (I love pineapple), I think that nostalgia and such is a big part of the obsession with Dole whip. I personally would never get it anywhere other than Disney and the Dole plantation: until very recently it wasn't available anywhere in the world other than these places and that's a big part of it for me too. Dole whip is a Disney vacation. If you don't have all of these attachments, it may just be meh to you. Or you may love it! No one knows till you try it. And if you end up not liking it, try the citrus swirl instead. It's frozen orange juice swirled with vanilla soft serve in a cone. Tart, creamy, and tastes like a dreamsicle. And if you love it, great! As you've seen, Disney now has many places to fulfill that craving.

I liked it with the coconut rum at AK. I should have gotten more.
