Dole whips used to be a must do for us. We loved them. However when we went in June they were not very good. I think they changed the recipe. The color was a darker yellow and it had a saccharin sweet flavor. Has anyone else noticed this? Or is it just my husband and myself? Maybe our tastes have changed? What do you think?

I hate to sound all doom and gloom and I loathe sounding like "If Disney changes X my vacation is ruined" But.....

WHAT?!?!?!

I rolled with the punches on Figaro Fries. I tried to see the upside of the buns. I don't complain about smaller snack portions and increased prices, but shoot! I have very few traditions. Things that make Disney Disney for me.

Figaro Fries - Gone as I loved them. I can get cheese fries anywhere.
A Dog at Casey's - Not quite the same with the new bun, but still good
Rice Krispy Treat from Main St Bakery
French Toast Loaf from Main St Bakery
and I HAVE to have a minimum of one Dole Whip Float per trip.

PLEASE say that they aren't messing with the Dole Whips and Dole Whip Floats!!

I'll have to try for myself, I'll report back in a week... I am on a mission. :rotfl:
I remember Aloha Isle having funky hours, does anyone know what time they are open and what tome they close? TIA

I don't know about closing times. I am generally at the window when they open. :rotfl:

They're open no later than 11 and often they were open at 10:30 for me.

To Ruin My dinner by having a Dole Whip float right before a Sit down meal, at Crystal Palace, LTT..

So worth it to me..

Just wish they would bring back the Beaver Tail in Canada..

I was there in Aug. and they tasted the same to me! Although, the guy making them was swirling up some huge ones. Then, right before my turn, a new girl stepped in. I got a wimpy one! Wah!

When I was there earlier this month they were open until midnight but only serving Dole Whip until 11pm. Also, the Dole Whip was as good as ever -- you must've had a bad batch.

Whew! Glad to hear that they haven't changed. I am sure I'd find a new favorite, but I'm joining the "I hate change" age :rotfl:

We had a couple last week and I thought they tasted the same as always!

We were there 2 weeks and this was our first Dole Whip Float experience and both my bf and I thought it had a funny- fake sweetener after taste.

We thought it was great while eating it, but it has a terrible after taste.

:sad2: I hope Disney hasn't extended it's food police campaign by trying to make the Dole Whips "healthy" using artificial sweeteners to save us all a few calories.

If they changed it to artificial sweeteners I won't be getting them anymore. I don't do food than comes with red warning labels about the bad stuff in artificial sweeteners.

We were also there in June and they tasted fine...i agree you must have had a bad batch- boooo!

Somehow I don't think that artificial sweeteners are the only concern! Mmmm chemicals! ;) It does however appear they have added corn syrup for your enjoyment.

According to precisionfoods.com[2], the following is the actual ingredient list. The list is kept behind the counter at the snack stand and is available upon request.

Sugar, Dextrose, Pineapple Crystals, Partially hydrogenated soybean oil, Stabilizers (Cellulose, Locust Bean, Guar, Xanthan, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Sodium Silico Aluminate, Vegetable Fiber, Citric Acid, Artificial Flavor, Sodium Caseinate (a milk derivative), Mono & Diglycerides, Sodium Citrate, Salt, Dipotassium Phosphate, Artificial Color Including F.D. & C. Yellow #6.

The ingredient list is different than it was before. It is currently as follows:

Sugar, Dextrose, Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Stabilizers (Cellulose, Locust Bean, Xanthan, Carrageenan and Karaya Gums, Pectin), Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Silicon Dioxide (anticaking), Corn Syrup Solids, Citric Acid, Sodium Caseinate (a milk derivative), Mono & Diglycerides, Artificial Flavor, Sodium Citrate, Salt, Potassium Phosphate, Yellow 5 & 6.

A dole whip is pineapple soft serve. It can be served alone or mixed with vanilla and maybe mixed with chocolate but ICK at that thought!

A dole whip float is pineapple soft serve (again alone or mixed with vanilla) served in a cup with fresh pineapple juice.

Dole whip floats are one of my top two Disney favorite treats.

If they did that, I would think they would be required to post a notice that they are now "sugar free" or "artificially sweetened" because of allergy issues and some people are sensitive to artificial sweeteners. But seriously, they are pretty much a pineapple flavored chemical cocktail anyway :rotfl2: But at least the pineapple juice in the float is the real deal...I just love them, anyway! :lovestruc

Yeah, artificial sweeteners are the least of one's concerns considering the ingredients.

I adore you bavaria. Because you unwittingly quoted me. I did the "edit" of the wikipedia page, b/c list of ingredients they had on there was wrong. :)

I had to go looking when my son had a corn syrup reaction after eating half of a whip, and found those blasted corn syrup solids. And it was peeving me that the wiki page was SO wrong. So now, even though it still has the old info, at least it also has the right info!

OP, I discovered the list of ingredients in around, oh, December, I think. So it's *possible* they went from the one list of chemicals to the other between your last trip and recently.

Unwittingly quoted you, but quoted in honour of you! I know that you posted the ingredients here awhile back and it explained a lot to me - I am very sensitive to some of the additives found in food in North America, sadly.
