Dole Whips at Disneyland?

Alright, I have to admit, I've never had a Dole Whip before. Hold the pitchforks, please, because I'm going to Disneyland in a few days (:woohoo:) and I've made up my mind to try one. (That Disneyland dining review thread made me really crave one) :goodvibes A few questions, though.

First, where can I buy a Dole Whip, specifically? (Near a certain attraction, in a certain "land" ?)

Is it just at Disneyland, or can I get one at DCA too?

I've seen pictures of Dole Whips, but every single picture I've seen is pineapple-flavored. Aren't there other flavors availible at DL? Just asking, because I'm not a huge fan of pineapple.

Thanks in advance!! :thumbsup2

You can find the Dole Whip at the Tiki Room. There is a concession area just for Dole Whips and Dole Whip floats. If you are going to the Tiki Room Show, go into the holding area (where they keep you until they open the tiki room) and there is a counter on that side too. It keeps you from having to wait in a sometimes long line.

No Dole Whips anywhere else in the parks.

No other flavors available. Sorry! Just try one - share it with someone if you don't think you will consume it all yourself.

Not trying one is more acceptable 'round here than not liking them...I hate them, they are awful. And the fam can't have 'em b/c of the ingredients, though they did like the one they had.

Since you don't like pineapple, just skip it. It's the only flavor they have at WDW and DLR. Now if you want to buy some mix for yourself, you can get other flavors. But that will take you to this site and then you'll see the ingredients, and that will likely put you off of even *wanting* to try it, LOL.

I had never had one until last weekend. I don't really see the love for them. They're alright, but not my favorite treat to get there (I'm a churro/mint julep girl). But pineapple is the only flavor. I agree - share it with someone if you aren't sure if you'll like it.

I had one and thought it was pretty good (especially since it looks like it has nothing but chemicals in it). They do have a magical way of filling the cup so that it looks HUGE, but it really has a big cave in the center. It was still plenty though.
I love churros also..but have never had a mint julep..this may be on my list in Sept!

-gasp- you haven't tried a dole whip? There awesome! I love the Dole Whip floats, it has pinapple juice and the soft serve/pinapple, so so good! My brother loves those things, he always has a tendency to steal from my cupXD oh and the float comes with a little paper umbrella!
-sorry for being so weird but I saw your questions had already been answered-

I'm pretty sure it just comes in pineapple. The only place Ive ever seen them is in front of the Tiki room.

I like them, but then I like pineapple. I don't think they're the best thing ever, but I do enjoy them at least once a trip! :thumbsup2

Yep, Tiki Room in Adventureland is the only place. The Tiki room is located just inside Adventureland, to the left as you are heading in. There is a courtyard around the building, surrounded by a log or bamboo fence/wall thingy. You go in the courtyard while waiting for the next show to start. The Dole whip stand is built into the wall, so there are 2 service counters, one facing the main walkway outside the attraction, the other facing the courtyard inside. Often you will find a loooonnnggg line on the outside service counter, but a short line inside the courtyard. So, even if you don't want to go to the show just then, you can always duck inside the courtyard, get your treat, and duck back out again. Or take it inside and eat it while you're singing along with the birdies. :rolleyes1

Wow, I can honestly say I have never heard of someone admitting to that! Why do I say that? Well, because I don't like them. I was sooooooo excited to try one a few years back and was sooooooooo disappointed. I couldn't see the bio deal. I tried the whip and the float and they were OK. I'd have a churro any day!!!:lovestruc

We tried them for the first time this latest trip, and my chemical- and-artificial-flavor adoring family fell in love! :lovestruc However, we are all big fans of pineapple so it was right up our alley. And it added to the whole "atmosphere" of Adventureland and the Tiki Room, etc. I am HUGE on atmosphere. It is kind of my thing......

Truthfully, I've never liked Pineapple, I don't know why but I think it's just too acidic for my liking... I did however enjoy the Dole Whip... I couldn't eat all of it but it was just something that you HAVE to try! Because then you take a picture of yourself eating it and post it on the DIS boards! It's basically just a write of passage! :rotfl:

I love pineapple, but I doubt there is any real pineapple in a Dole Whip :cutie: I'm just eh about Dole Whips and probably won't spend money to buy one again. I only tried one for the first time this year.

I couldn't find the ingredients in the link Molly posted above so I googled and found them at Unified Enterprises Corp.'s website. They are:

(Pineapple) Sugar, Dextrose, Pineapple Crystals, Partially
Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Stabilizers (Cellulose, Locust
Bean, Guar, Xanthan, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Sodium Silico
Aluminate, Vegetable Fiber, Citric Acid, Artificial Flavor,
Sodium Caseinate (A Milk Derivative), Mono & Diglycerides,
Sodium Citrate, Salt, Dipotassium Phosphate, Articial Color
Including F.D. & C. Yellow #6.

So it looks like there may be a smidgeon of pineapple in there after all :)

They kind of have to be pineapple to be Dole Whips because pineapples are Dole's famous fruit! There are some people on here who hold secret grudges against Dole Whips (secret at least until we had the 'what in DL do you hate' thread :lmao:).

I've had an AP for two years now, live 15 minutes down the road, and have never had a Dole Whip. Yikes!

The Aloha Isle at WDW's Magic Kingdom also offers orange ice cream in addition to the pineapple and vanilla. It sounds like DL's only has pineapple ice cream? We were hoping to try orange ice cream with pineapple juice for our next Dole Whip float.

My wife and I just returned from Disneyland today.... We are so tired but I ate as many Dole Whips as I could (ate 4 in one day). Sooooooooo good!!!!!

Do they make ya full or leave ya hungry?
They are whipped so they are light and airy like sorbet. They do not make you hungry but do give you the carbs and calories to keep you going and are cooling refreshment.

I am gluten, dairy, soy free and have had no problems but people on soy or cassein free diets cannot have them. Kosher too not vegan but are vegetarian if you do not mind the tiny bit of cassein in them.

I never ended up having a Dole whip at Disneyland because I had already bought a couple in Hawaii... the home of "Dole" pineapples. I even had one at the Dole Plantation, where there are LOTS of pineapples, which just kinda made it taste that little more special.;)

After already trying them, I figured I could miss them out and just try other things at Disneyland, like apple pie apples (YUM! but difficult to eat) and soup in a bread bowl (definitely YUMM!! shared this with hubby, but wished I'd had my own), loaded baked potato soup at Carnation Cafe (chatted with the lovely Oscar) and quite a bit more.

I missed the churros, but actually saw a stand selling those recently, so may still get to try one. I also missed Tigger Tails!!! Can't believe I missed those, so I'll have to make sure that is on my list next time.

Oops... went a little off track there. There are a LOT of delicious snacks at Disneyland. But if you want a good coffee... you may want to go somewhere else. jmho
