Dole Whips are available at Epcot

I had hoped they would do something such as add the rum into the mix and get a combined flavor. Apparently what they did was run the Dole Whip into a glass and then add the rum over the top, so that it pooled near the bottom.

I was wondering how they were going to do this. You just can't add alcohol to an "ice cream" base and have it freeze right. Even if they replaced some of the water they use to make the mix, the alcohol lowers the freezing point like putting salt on an icy sidewalk. I have some Vanilla Dole Whip Mix at home and mixed it wrong. Just a little too much water or not enough mix and it just doesn't "set".

Dole also may take issue with changing its mixing instructions and could say well its no longer Dole Soft Serve(Whip).

Pouring it on just sounds odd.

Disney if you are reading this you need to make a Rum based syrup or some other thicker topping for it.

Sounds like, I need to bring one back from MK and mix in a little Malibu Rum. :thumbsup2

Probably wouldn't work like you would expect it to. Adding the alcohol would water it down and melt it as per above. I once added some alcohol of some sort to a McDonald's frozen strawberry lemonade and it immediately turned to a watery slush. So bring a straw. :thumbsup2

what do you base this on? just a hunch? i would love to have one when i finally get there

Photographs taken on site. The rum is poured on as a "floater" and it is NOT mixed with the whip itself. That is how you can tell they don't use a lot of rum.

The rum is Siesta Key spiced rum.

It will taste just fine. We do this with ice cream and alcohol all the time. Although, it works better, if the alcohol is poured first. Liqueur or champagne works even better.

Maybe, just mixing a little pineapple juice will improve the taste? I'm not a spiced rum fan, so disappointed about the rum.

They should have made it rum Dole floats, and added the rum to the pineapple juice and stirred it, then add the whip.

Dole whip is showing up all over now. They got it at our zoo last year and I was so excited.
