I had hoped they would do something such as add the rum into the mix and get a combined flavor. Apparently what they did was run the Dole Whip into a glass and then add the rum over the top, so that it pooled near the bottom.
I was wondering how they were going to do this. You just can't add alcohol to an "ice cream" base and have it freeze right. Even if they replaced some of the water they use to make the mix, the alcohol lowers the freezing point like putting salt on an icy sidewalk. I have some Vanilla Dole Whip Mix at home and mixed it wrong. Just a little too much water or not enough mix and it just doesn't "set".
Dole also may take issue with changing its mixing instructions and could say well its no longer Dole Soft Serve(Whip).
Pouring it on just sounds odd.
Disney if you are reading this you need to make a Rum based syrup or some other thicker topping for it.
Sounds like, I need to bring one back from MK and mix in a little Malibu Rum.![]()
Probably wouldn't work like you would expect it to. Adding the alcohol would water it down and melt it as per above. I once added some alcohol of some sort to a McDonald's frozen strawberry lemonade and it immediately turned to a watery slush. So bring a straw.
