Dole Whip?

It is the most absolutely yummy pineapple ice cream. Served as soft serve in a bowl or as a float in pineapple juice.

How do you get cool whip? Bring your own??? I love Dole whips! So yummy! It makes me want one right now! I'm outside and it's over 90 degrees so it would be perfect!

Here's a picture of my DD10 with a Dole whip float (pineapple soft serve, basically, with pineapple juice, a cherry and a paper umbrella) and me with a Dole whip. It was good, very refreshing, though I guess I don't find it to be, like, the best thing I ever tasted, as some people here say... (please don't hurt me!:rotfl: )

In WDW they have a mix pineapple and vanilla. Yum!

It is 100% delicious.

That said, I think it's not even milk based. :confused3

I think bumbershoot had posted somewhere that it was basically a mess'o'chemicals with no milk at all..
(My apologies to bumbershoot if I misspoke. I do remember someone had looked up ingredients somehow)

I have the recipe somewhere. It was a very involved recipe, and yes real whipped cream, I really do not remember chemical additives at all. Just lots of real very high calorie ingredients.:tink:

Okay here it is. The Disneyland version does not have the optional ingredients, ie., chopped cherries, mini.... They garnish with the maraschino cherries. Also, this recipe really comes out better using a ice cream maker. Trying to add the slushy mixture to the whipped cream seperates the fat if not mixed well. Enjoy!:tink:

Pineapple Icee Whip
(from Dole.com)

Prep: 10 min.
Freeze: 3 hrs.
Makes: 8 servings

2 cans (20 oz. each) DOLE Crushed Pineapple
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons lime juice
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries, mini marshmallow or mini chocolate chips, (optional)
1-1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped

Drain pineapple; reserve 2 tablespoons juice. Set aside.

Place pineapple, lemon juice, lime juice, sugar and reserved pineapple juice in blender or food processor container. Cover; blend until smooth. Stir in cherries or marshmallow or chips, if desired.

Pour into two 1-quart freezer zipped bags. Store bags flat in freezer. Freeze about 1-1/2 hours or until slushy.

Stir gently pineapple slush into whipped cream until just blended, in large bowl. Return to freezer until completely frozen, about 1 hour. Serve.

The product sold in the parks does NOT have dairy/whipped cream in it.

Only a small amount of the milk derivative sodium caseinate accounts for dairy content.

The following is the actual ingredient list. The list is kept behind the counter at the snack stand and is available upon request.

Sugar, Dextrose, Pineapple Crystals, Partially hydrogenated soybean oil, Stabilizers (Cellulose, Locust Bean, Guar, Xanthan, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Sodium Silico Aluminate, Vegetable Fiber, Citric Acid, Artificial Flavor, Sodium Caseinate (a milk derivative), Mono & Diglycerides, Sodium Citrate, Salt, Dipotassium Phosphate, Artificial Color Including F.D. & C. Yellow #6.

OK - facts out of the way... now for opinion... LOL

I LOVE pineapple. Plain and simple. I really enjoyed the Dole Whip, but did not like the Dole Whip FLOAT. It was just too much for me.

Not to be missed if you like pineapple at all! Decide for yourself if you like it. ;-)

Okay, after all my numerous trips to DL and 12 trips to WDW, DD8 and I finally had a Dole Whip float a few weeks ago! I was going to get one about a month ago but the line was really long (and slow). So this trip, we got one about 10 a.m. before the line got too long (it reached 102 that day :sunny:) I have to say that we enjoyed it but from now one we'll just order the Dole Whip, with the float (no pineapple juice). Even though it was fairly early in the day, it was already getting hot so the Whip melted fairly fast into the juice. And the juice wasn't very cold.

However, I will say that thanks to having the Whip float we had one of our very own (unofficial) magical moments. Our server was R***, and when it was our turn to order, I asked if we could have either a green or blue umbrella (as per DD's request). He gave us both-which I thought was really nice. :goodvibes However, that wasn't the moment. It came about 10 mins. later. DD and I took our whip over the the hub and found a shady bench to sit and enjoy it. We had eaten about 1/4 of it when it spilt-DD had put the cup on the bench and being that it wasn't very level, when she let go of the cup, it fell over and most of it spilled on the bench, and onto the ground. :scared1: DD looked at me like I was going to get mad (since I had told her to hold onto it). I didn't (why make her more upset?) and I told her that if she took the cup back to R***, and told him nicely what had happened and asked him if she could get a 1/2 refill, maybe he would say yes. It couldn't hurt to ask. So, I elected to let her go by herself (I could see the stand from where I was) and see what happened. She came running back about 5-8 mins. later with a huge grin on her face and a new float. She said she had to wait awhile since a man had taken cuts in front of her (she's fairly small) and the CM didn't notice her. She said she told him what happened and he asked her where it got spilled. Then he give her a brand new one! :tink: (Even though she only asked for a 1/2). This really made her day and I was going to tell Guest Services about R*** being such a great CM but everytime we went by there (about 3 x's) the line was out the door. We are doing again soon, and I'll make a point of letting them know.

So, anyway, that was our first Dole Whip float. We will have more Dole whip, without the float.

Here she is with her new float!

Great story! That was really nice of the CM to give your DD a new float! :goodvibes Things like that really make a persons day.:thumbsup2

She is too cute!!
I love Dole Whips but not so much the float. We usually buy 1 of each and DD8 and I share the Whip while DBF has the float, I drink a little of the juice but not much. DD11 doesn't like them so she just skips it.

I'm a Dole Whip Virgin. :lmao: They look so yummy! I can't wait to try them.

Dole Whips are definatly on my "Snacks to Try" list...the float doesn't sound as good...

I can't wait!! I love pineapple and ice cream...the two together....:lovestruc
