OK so I've never tried a Dole Whip but really want to on our next trip (in three weeks). Have been having a few problems with my gall bladder.......need to have it taken out as soon as my trip is over.....and unfortunately need to really watch my fat intake in Disney. I know this is not going to be an easy task but i do know for sure ICE CREAM is out!!

Is the Dole Whip low in fat or, maybe if all my dreams come true, FAT FREE??

Any other Fat free substitutes that you know of in the parks would be greatly appreciated!!

I refuse to let this get me down and I am determined to have a good time with no problems!! Do not want to be visiting an emergency room on my trip that's for sure!!

I do believe the Dole Whips are fat free, but don't quote me on this. By the way, didn't you know that any food consumed on WDW grounds is not only calorie free, but fat free as well?!

Ann:)

Thanks GlennandAnn....... I always believed that too but unfortunately my gallbladder doesn't follow those rules!!

You will have made my day if I find out they are fat free......anyone know for sure? Anyone recommend any other "goodies" I can have?

There is definitely fat-free ice cream available in the MK at the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor.

I don't think Dole Whip is fat free - it tastes way too good! Sorry. Hope this doesn't cloud your trip too much. ;)

here is a link to my thread. Someone was nice enough to post a link to another thread which gives nutritional data

Another lowfat/fat free treat is the frozen strawberry bars. On Hot days, DH and I can down a couple of those and call it lunch as it typically is too hot to eat for us!!!

Dole whip is NOT fat free. I was on Weight Watchers when I went to Disney last year and I cannot remember how but I got the points as well as the nutritional info on this product. I know it was actually quite high in both calories and fat. In the past I had always assumed it was like a low fat sherbert but was very surprised to find out I was wrong. I always looked forward to it in the past and will still eat it but just not enjoy so many of them. I remember the orignal Dole whip and I think they changed the formula. T hey used to serve it with a large spear of pineapple in it.

Thank you all for your input........this gallbladder thing had me real down because I know it is nearly impossible to avoid all fats, especially in a place like Disney for 12 DAYS!!! At least I know I will have options.......while everyone else is enjoying fattening Ice Cream at least I know I can get a FF one on Main Street!! Hardly any fat in a Dole Whip so I will give this a try too!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks to you all who took the time to answer my question about Dole Whip and FF choices in the world but I'm happy to report I was able to have my surgery this passed Monday......had the gallbladder removed and was assured by my doctor's to be feeling fine enough to enjoy our trip in two weeks.

Although I will still be looking forward to the Dole Whip experience, I will not have the "worry" of having a gall bladder attack attached to this experience. Bring on the fatteing ice cream and goodies.......HEE-HEE!!! Sure, now I'll probably gain 10 lbs!!

Hope you are feeling better soon. Enjoy your trip, and have a Dole Whip for me.;)

Last trip my DH had a Dole whip "Float"....the Dole whip was floating in pineapple juice.Yum!!!:p

I looked on that website and took the nutrirional info for dole whip and plugged it into the points calculator and I got 3 points...

for anyone who might be allergic to milk products, it is most important to know that although Dole Whip is "lactose free" it is NOT milk free. It has sodium caseinate, a milk-derivative as an ingrediant--and the servers do not know it contains a milk product (or at least the last one I talked with, who swore it was truly dairy free.)
