Not sure what it’s going to be like, as this will be prepackaged and obviously not soft serve dispensed on demand. But they’re specifically marketing it as “Dole Whip” and not “Dole Soft Serve” like the powdered mix used for commercial use with industrial soft serve equipment.

  • DOLE Whip® Frozen Treat: A better-for-you dessert with a creamy texture and made with real fruit, available in three rich flavors: Pineapple, Mango, and Strawberry.

Some yogurt shops here carry Dole Whip, although the shop closest to my house dropped it because it was a slow seller. And seems like every Festival here with food trucks, there are Dole Whip vendors.
I had never heard of Dole Whip until I got on these boards. Which is funny because one of our traditions at Disneyland was always to do to the Dole booth outside the Enchanted Tiki Room and get a glass of fresh Dole pineapple juice. If it was on the menu, I never noticed.

Real Dole Whip served @ DisneyWorld is a non-diary dessert and doesn't have any real fruit in it. The powered mix is currently sold on Amazon for those interested. I think people will be disappointed if they think this is the same product served at Disneyworld. Having the same/similar product name will probably cause confusion.

Can't wait to try

It has pineapple juice in it. The label just says "natural & artificial flavors".

I've seen it at so many different places, like Menchie's Frozen Yogurt. It's found in some Hawaiian BBQ places too. The Dole Plantation on Oahu also serves it.

I do have a little problem with these guys claiming that they're "born in Oahu".

It was created in a lab in Silicon Valley by this woman and her team:

Never been a Dole Whip fan, but laughing at the descriptions of ‘fruit forward’ and ‘better for you’. Curious to see the back of the box and ingredient list

"Fruit Forward" sounds like another of those industy buzz-words (like "plant based") that really means nothing but is a marketing effort to make their product sound healthier. I guess something like potato chips are now better for you since they are 'plant based' as well..........LOL.

Fruit Forward was a term previously used to refer to the taste of certain types of wine.

There's a strawberry but no orange?

Dole PR execs have a very involving "fruitgistics" process targeted to the juice-driven market.

We here at Smuckers could share own marketable "fruitangiblity" models with the public, but I don't think you're ready for this jelly.

I'll buy it once. I'm guessing it'll be like super soft sherbet.

I'm concerned about the "whip" in the name. Sounds like a way to sell something that is more than 50% air, and price it the same as premium ice cream. Kind of like those Yoplait Whips yogurts, that cost the same as their regular yogurts but contain only about 30% actual yogurt. If you stir one of those up, you're lucky to get 3 spoonfuls.

It'll appear to be low calorie, but that's only because there is so little actual product.

Hawaiian Bros restaurant has Dole whip here. Not sure how the frozen product will have the same texture.

Yep it's on the menu. My go to is a dole whip float. It consists of ice cream and pineapple juice.

I'm not sure I mind, really. To me, the air makes a little bit of dessert take a little longer to eat - which means I'll eat less and still be satisfied.

That's the general definition of soft serve though. I've had very dense ice cream before, and it is a huge pain when it's initially out of the freezer. As in so hard as to bend spoons.

When I've gotten Dole Pineapple Soft Serve at Menchie's, they sell by the ounce (weighed on a scale) and it's not ridiculously expensive. Although it's not measured at Disney Parks, I'd estimate that the same amount would have been about half the price. I remember $4 got me a whole lot of it.

Have you ever frozen soft serve hard and tried to eat it out of the freezer? It's gross. I'm worried about the texture of this product. We'll see.
