Doing the math with new AP rates

OK... I had planned on getting an AP pass for myself to buy tickets at the gate. I THINK we'll be back next October for HHN 2012... So I couldn't buy the pass until this November. But now that the AP pass has gone up in cost, maybe not the way to go?

I can't seem to find the gate prices anywhere, but from what every site says I'm saving I gather a 4 day park-2-park ticket has a gate price of $175.95. If I get an AP pass, I'll save 15% per ticket at the gate making them $149.95. Which is the same deal as UT. And now I've read that AP holders only get free parking at the park lots, glad I read that info, that might have swayed me if the hotel parking had been free.

SO... since I already got the $134 room rate through a pin code this year, I guess I really need to decide if we're going next October, because that's where the only additional savings will be had... am I correct or did I forget to carry a 1 somewhere? Any other benefits I'm forgetting for the non-resident AP pass?

Thanks for any info!

Normally an AP pays for itself with 2 visits due to the discounts. Remember you also get discounts on food and merchandise too.

But for your pin code that's the cheapest it's going to get this time. Next year if you go it could come in handy. Also if you plan on doing a second trip in one year then I would get everyone in your party an AP.:thumbsup2

Why can't you buy the AP until November? Why not buy it now? It doesn't activate until the first use.

This is correct...you can purchase the pass now at the current price and not activate it until November. However if you wanted to use the AP for any of the discounts associated with it, you would need to activate it when you're there and your year would begin from that date. HHN discounts for passholders are great but that's up to you.

AP never got free parking for the resorts hotels.. they are not owned by Universal, but by Lowes.. Lowes is charging that parking.. kind of sucks too.. you can get a discount on your room with the AP, but you still pay the parking. It would be a nice perk to wave the parking for AP holders..

HMMMM I think I will put that in one of the comment boxes next time I get an email for a survey from Universal ( I am always doing their survey's when they send them to me :lmao: )
