I had planned to visit Disneyland a few days after the 4th of July, but unfortunately (and painfully) got mono and had to delay the trip. NWA was kind enough to push my flight back to any time I wanted, which I utilized to delay my Disney trip until my birthday in October. The last two years I spent my birthday in Disneyworld with a friend of mine, but said friend has since packed up and headed to China, so I'll be on my own continuing the tradition this year.

My questions are: 1) which rides, if any, have single-rider lines, 2) how is the Halloween party at DCA compared to MNSSHP at Disneyworld--do they have the same parade, fireworks display, etc etc--and 3) is the Haunted Mansion dressed up in Nightmare Before Christmas Garb all through the month of October or only just before Halloween? I've never gotten to ride the original Haunted Mansion and was excited to get the experience, but the Nightmare experience would be entirely new, and thus very exciting.

I'll be in the LA/Anaheim area for four full days, so I should have time to see everything as well as spend a day or two exploring the beaches and doing gaudy things like tours of the stars or whatever.

Thanks!

DL: Splash
DCA: GRR, Soarin', Maliboomer, Cali' Screamin', Mullholland Madness, TSMM

The one here isn't as fancy. They just added small parade last year and when I say small, it was small. There's no fireworks, just candy, rides, and characters.

It'll be there for the whole month of October when you're there through the beginning of Jan!

well i can say that ive not been to wdw halloween thing but were going to the dca it looks fun and exciteing.

Now yes nightmare hunted mansion will be up. I like the normal one better but hay we will go some time when its not oct nov or dec..but idk when next year were going back for christmas lol)

were spending 5days at dl dca -do you think 4 is enough for everything you want to do. (just saying make sure) lol and among everything else have fun and happy bday

Sounds like fun! All your questions have been answered, but if you'd like to read my quick solo trip report, it's linked in my signature.

You're from Huntington! I spent a summer there helping to train new amazon employees (are they still there?). Loved that big park in the city with the rose garden, and enjoyed exploring that part of WV. :goodvibes

I'm going to read the report right now. And yeah, Amazon's still here, though they're over the police building now. I dunno if that's where they were when you visited.

The park you're talking about is Ritter Park. I live three blocks from it! It's very nice for running and strolling through the flowers.

I also have a Canon S3--they're great! It's so much better than my old point and shoot.

Does DLR only have fireworks on the weekends during the "off-season"? Should I ensure I go over a weekend?

Yep, over the police station; I never felt so safe! One morning on my way in, some extremely creepy guy was following me in, and I was never more glad that I got to park near the police station as when he finally saw where I was going and turned off the road.

3 blocks! Oh so lucky!

I am pretty sure you're right about the fireworks, so if you can, throw a weekend in there. :) You're going to be moving so much faster as a solo than as a family the extra crowds won't impact you too horribly much, IMO.

I've done DL solo twice now (I added extra time to business trips). You're going to love it. It's very weird at first not have friends and family around, but then you realize that being alone has its benefits. You can zip around easily, eat whenever and wherever you want and the best part is that you can find a spot for the parades very quickly because you only need enough space on the curb for your tush. :rotfl:

Have a great time!
