Much as I hate the idea of doing laundry on vacation, I may have to do a load while at WDW. I know where the laundry room is located at WL...but has anyone done it there? Do you have to sit and wait with the clothes or will they be safe to leave and come back? Is there laundry soap, etc for purchase in the laundry room?

I saw that they had some kind of laundry services too. I would imagine that is pretty pricey. Anyone done that?

You really want to stay close to your laundry so you can move it from the washer to the dryer as soon as possible. Otherwise if you are not there, someone else may remove your items from the washer or dryer. Most people who do this are respectful of your items, but they won't be folded or hung up. Everyone wants to use the washers and dryers, so you need to get things out when that cycle is completed.

I leave it and feel OK doing so. We either sit by the pool or have a drink in TL. I just make sure to go back in a timely manner. The do have detergent for sale. The laundry svs is per item and very expensive!

I did a load last week at the WL and was fine leaving it and coming back for it. I cant say how much the soap costs as we use dye/scent free and thus brought our own.

I do laundry there a few times each trip and have always left it and came back. I usually go to the pool or lobby, never any problems. One suggestion is to bring purex 3 in 1 sheets. They are perfect for doing laundry on vacation!! No worries about liquid spilling in your luggage and WAY cheaper than buying things down there. Ill be hanging out in the laundry room Nov 30-Dec 8, maybe ill see you there!

There have been problems noted with front load washers and the 3 in 1 sheets.

Problems?? Really? I use them at home in my front load washer. Haven't had problems yet. I was also planning on bringing them on my trip in March.

I leave and go for a swim, or read a book by the pool. I keep a watch on the time, and return in enough time to switch over. I bring my own deterg. I keep those samples that sometimes come in the mail. But now that Purex Sheets have finally come to Canada ;) I'll be taking them for my next trip!

How do you pay for using the machines? Quarters? How much a load? How much for the dryers?

Patty

I was told that there are no laundry facilities at the VWL side of the resort by the CM on the reservations phone line. She said that we would have to take our laundry over to the WL laundry room, wherever that was (she did not know the location). This was for a studio reservation, so I decided against it. I couldn't believe there were no facilities for those staying in studios at the VWL. I did not want to take a hike around the WL looking for the laundry facilities.

That laundry room was very tiny. I think there was only 5 washing machines. It was also really crowded when I went to do my laundry in the evening in June 2009.

I did put the stuff in the washer, went to Roaring Forks for a snack and went back to the laundry room 20 minutes later.

I was glad I did because there was a line of people waiting for the washing machines by then and the very second someones laundry was done, they would haul it out and put it on the table. I'm sure several peoples laundry got mixed up together because of it.

The dryers took 2 cycles to dry and there were more dryers than washers.

I brought my own quarters and laundry soap. It was a good thing too because the quarter machines were not working and they were out of laundry soap. I also saw this problem at POFQ over Memorial Weekend this year too. So you'll want to be prepared with your own supplies if you can.

The villas always have their own laundry rooms. They are small because only the studios would use them. But they are noted on your information when you check in.

Yes, that is what I would think---I was told differently by the CM on the phone though, and I decided not to make a reservation there. I wish I would have had more information before calling, but she insisted there were no laundry rooms in the Villas section at all.

Never ask a resort specific question from the CM on the reservations line. They know very little about the resorts you are asking about. You're better of asking here on the DIS and getting the word about the resort, then making that reservation.

I wish I would have had the time to check here, but the availability popped up, and wanted to grab it while I could. The public room-only codes have since expired, so I can't do anything about it now. I reserved a different resort, but would have loved the VWL, even with the studio for the rate that was offered. Oh well, win some, lose some....
