We will at AKL in the last week of August. Are there laundry facilities in the resort? One facility or on each floor? How busy is it? Thanks.

There is a laundry room on the second floor. More dryers than washers. i think 4 or 6 washers. Stay with your laundry, wash cycle is quick and they have a tv. When I got there, women were pulling peoples clothes out of the washers because people would put clothes in , leave and not come back. Bring an empty suitcase and when you're done, fold and in they go. i think it was 2.00 per wash and dry. they also sell detergent.

The one on the 2nd floor is way down on the Arusha Savannah. There is also a 2nd laundry on the other side of the resort through the doors to the right of Simba's Cubhouse near the pool. (It is actually across from the elevators inside on 1st floor) I discovered a dryer with a light on all the time so you didn't need to add money. I used it twice during my stay in Dec. I am sure they probably discovered the problem by now and fixed it. It was 2.00 per load in the washer and dryer. They had a soap dispenser and change machine along with a TV. When we were there it was nearly empty! I practically had the place to myself both times I went there. I was able to leave and check on DS and DH in the pool without having to worry about my clothes , so it depends on when you are visiting.

We too schedule a laundry time, it can get crowded/busy-we found that you can go during the prime of the day at the parks, which was for us about 2-3pm and there usually was not a problem get the clothes washed. My DW would take a nap and I would take the kids, do laundy, then pool for 1 hour, then back to the parks.

I've always used the laundry room near Simba's Cubhouse - it's convenient to be at the pool, then make a quick run in to check on the laundry. I would stop by the front desk for quarters as from what I recall the machine was frequently out. It's nice and clean in the laundry room, and my kids (then 4 and 6) had fun "helping" mommy with the laundry. There's no way I can pack enough clean tee shirts, undies, etc. for a whole week at disney - sometimes we go through 2 changes of clothes a day (I like my kids clean, I'm picky). I brought detergent tabs (I still have some left but don't know if they sell them anymore here at home) and lots of dryer sheets (they DON'T sell dryer sheets and I use 2 per dryer load, it makes the clothes much nicer smelling as the dryers are used by so many folks). Have fun!!!!

I found the laundry room at the AKL to be very clean.

I bought dryer sheets (two to a package) there last November.

We also used the laundry room outside of Simba's clubhouse. I timed the washer cycle. So I'd put them in, go back to the room ( I think it was 1/2 hour), then go back and put them in the dryer. The dryers took 2 cycles to dry though. We do laundry during the day, so it was empty. :flower:
