doing Atkins-new to board

I'm so glad I have found this site. I have been on Atkins for about 3 weeks and I have lost about 13LBs. I'm the only person that I know doing Atkins. So I feel like I'm on my own, without much support. I'm hoping this site will help keep me inspired throughout my weigh loss.
Let me start by saying that I did Atkins a couple of years ago. I lost like 60Lbs and then got pregnant. Almost all of the weight came back. I tried many times to restart the diet, but never lasted more than a few days. Until this time. With my desire to be slim for my vacation in June, 3 weeks ago I started. And I feel good. Years ago when I lost 60 pounds I only ate meat, cheese, eggs and vegtables. This time around I'm finding the biggest problem to be all the new food on the market. It is easy to overeate.
I found the Atkins morning start bars to be a nice addition. Also, I picked up Low carb Peanut Butter, and it is really good. I also picked up low carb tortillas. It so much better that eating only meat.
Here is my goal, I now weigh 202. I have 8 weeks until vacation. I want to loose as much as I can on vacation. It would be great if I could loose another 20. I know that I can't do a strict Atkins while on vacation, but I plan on resuming the diet when I return. My real goal is to drop the weight by my 40th birthday this October.

Lots of us folks doing Atkins - some old pros with tons of great advice and some realitively new to Atkins like myself with some advice but TONS of support as are all the other Wishers here!


Any ?s concerns comments etc just post and the Wish folk will come with advice answers support! This is a great bunch of people!

Welcome Dee - you're in good company. Sounds like you are off to a great start with your Atkins plan. I just finished my sixth week and have lost 7.5 lbs. but I'm within 11 lbs of my goal. I feel so much better on Atkins than I've ever felt on any diet that it's worth sticking to even if my results are sllllloooowwwww. I look forward to learning from your Atkins expertise!
 
Welcome to the DIS, Dee.:wave2: I'm not doing Atkins, doing WW, but try to stick to low carb, and so far it's working. Good luck to you.:D
 

I've been doing Atkins for 2 months now! I've lost 55lbs as of today! So you have time! Good Luck! Let us know when you are down . We will be there!:wave:

You have found a wonderful place to get encouragement. I'm on South Beach not Atkins but there are tons of Atkins people around if you need advice about something specific. You've done well so far and I know you'll reach your goal.

Have you decided on an exercise plan? We can encourage you there too. There is a daily exercise thread floating around where we post how we moved our bodies each day. Please join us! Take care and welcome again!
 
Welcome Dee! You will find so much support here on the WISH board. I'm also doing Atkins and I'm also going to Disney in June. I'm hoping to somewhat stick to my Atkins eating while at Disney but I will have an occassional "must haves" while I'm down there. I've read many great suggestions and ideas on this board for lowcarb eating while at Disney. On overeating on all the new products that are out, I just realy watch myself. I make sure of my portions and make sure I don't keep going back for more. I hope you stick around and join in all the fun here. Good luck!:p
