Doing ADR's for Grand Gathering???

What is the best way to do adrs for grand gatherings? There will be about 16 of us. Should l do 2 tables of eight or should I do table for 16? We are not going until next july but we will have our first meeting this august at my house. I told them about the ADR's so they know we must have where we want to eat narrowed down by January. Soon as I can I will be making ressies.

To anyone who has booked for a large group please give me advice.

I would ask for 16, though often times you will not get it and they will split you up, so its best to ask and get the ones you can do.

Im with 12 this year, I think we got 3 together, 18 apart!! We didnt get anything inside the parks together.

I have alot more questions for you. I am doing a slide show for everything. They want to eat where we went in 2006 but I have encouraged them to pick just family dinners. I think they are scared they will get lost. I told them it is easy moving around in disney.

We had 18 last year. 1 we got together (we were quite surprised actually) at Boma. The rest we were split up into 2 (or 3 in one case), which really worked out fine anyway. We had a "kids" table and an "adult" table. The adults took turns sitting and supervising the kids. We were able to be seated at tables next to each other.

We also didn't do too many ADRs. It was a fairly last minute trip (yep...grew to 18 very fast) and we just didn't have the time to coordinate.

Forgot to add that when we made our ADRs, we did ask for one table for each of them. When we arrived we found that we would be split. No big deal to us, as I said before.

I just booked several dinners for 18 last week - they put me through to "Group Dining" who handled all the ADR's. I told them I had 18 people and that we were willing to be broken up into smaller tables if it helped. I had specific restaurants that I wanted and specific times. It wasn't a problem - they worked with me to say "this restaurant will be 3 tables" or "we can do a big table there". So I think you should just say you are willing to be broken up into 2 tables if it helps get the reservation.

Great idea to get together a few times before the trip. If you have access to a printer and possibly a copier, you may want to check out the MENUs at AllEars.com Print out the menus and give a copy to each family head.

Family restaurants are great, though after a long day at the parks, I like quiet in the evenings. I go for more upscale dinners and avoid buffets at night.

Depending on the length of your stay, and the number of table services you plan, you may want a family/casual/buffet breakfast (especially from knowing where everyone is first thing in the morning). With kids of all different ages, you most likely will split up in the parks. Either arrange a time/meeting place for lunch or tell everyone they are on their own. You can get together again for dinner and after dinner activities. There are a lot of grand gathering "experiences" you may want to check out too.

Disney takes a lot of preparing. After more than a dozen trips, Im still commando mode. I dont think I could ever just wing it.

As for getting lost...cant happen! Too many CMs to help out!!
