I am really really excited about something. I've always loved looking at glass-related art. Any type, especially anything related to dale Chihuly. I've been absolutely fasincated with glass art.
Earlier in the year, there was an art gallery that was offering some glass art classed, a one-day class around $150. I tried to sign up, but gosh darn it, the class was full. They put my name on a waitlist, in case they were going to do more classes, I read somewhere recently they were doing additional classes in October, but before I had a chance to call, I got our local YMCA brochure. In Milwaukee, there are many "traditional" YMCA's and one YMCA dedicated to the arts, i.e. music, drama, and art related things. It is a really awesome Y, one of the few of its kind in the country.
They are offering a class in making glass beads this fall, for a whopping $30 for members, $42 for non-members. I signed up! I am just so excited about this. One of the things I've always wanted to try is doing something with glass - at least one time in my life.
Apparently, the artist teaching the class is a high-school friend of the art director of this Y, who will be moving to Costa Rico sometime soon, so this will most likely be my only time to try something like this without breaking the bank so to speak.
Back to my happy dance!
