how you handle this situation just depends on where you live.

I agree.

Given the choice of staying home or coming for a ride in the car, my dogs have always chosen to come along, hands down. They know that they are likely to get a treat or go for a walk somewhere fun, but mostly they simply like being out and about with me and/or DH. Obviously, I would never leave any dog in a hot car or for hours at a time, but for running errands or quick trips, my dog is usually with me.

I've never had anyone say anything mean to me; usually they tell me they like my dog and have or had one just like her. I don't worry too much about anyone stealing her if I'm just in and out, but if I go somewhere like a mall where I will be there for a while and cannot see her, I leave her home.

She's getting to be pretty well known around town, LOL.
