Dog's First Birthday

So, tomorrow is our doggie's first birthday. Am I nuts for scouring the internet for a recipe for a doggie cake? I decided to make "good dog" cookies. My family will probably think I'm nuts but then again I remember seeing pictures of my dog (when I was a kid) wearing a birthday hat.

I go to our local pet store and buy birthday treats. They have a bakery case for dogs- cakes, cupcakes, cookies, etc. So much easier. Plus we only have one dog and the recipe I found made way too much.

There is a brand of can food at Petsmart that has carrot cake, berry cobbler and a couple of other desserts. My dog LOVES the carrot cake. I think they are less than $2.00.

I just saw some edible Pet cards at our local Hallmark! They are not a Hallmark product though.

We always celebrated our doggie's birthday. One year there were a lot of things going on that day and we didn't do anything for her. My grandfather was really upset about it (doggie was about 11 yrs old then). My Mom's birthday was about a week later, so we had her cake say "Happy Birthday, (insert doggie's name) and Mom!

The lady at the bakery gave us a look like we were crazy, but it made up for the oversight.

Our little Bea turns one on the 11th. Her brother Otis and his parents are have a party for us all!
We just found out Bea needs major surgery at a specialty hospital on her elbow with 8 week recuperation so the party is a last blow out for a while.

Happy Birthday to your dog
When our Maltese turned one, my dd-10 at the time, wanted to have a pool party for him. So we did
I had dog treats from the doggie bakery, doggie ice cream and my dog went swimming with my dd and ds.
My inlaws came with their dog and our friends came with their dog.
You are good for trying to make something, I cheated and went to the dog bakery.
