My sister and brother-in-law will be joining us for 1 day at Disneyland. They are bringing their golden lab along as this Disney day is tacked on to the end of a beach house trip.

They will be arriving late afternoon and we were hoping to find a good place to eat that we could bring the dog along. Does anyone know of any fun, dog-friendly places? We don't mind eating outside (obviously) but prefer some shade! We are open to lots of different types of food and love trying new places.

Also, they are planning to put the dog in the kennel at Disney for the day we are there. Does anyone know about the kennel- what is it like? Do you need a reservations? Any experiences- good or bad?

Thanks alot!

As for the kennel...

They need to call and find out EXACTLY what papers are needed. They are very specific and if she does not have the needed paperwork, they will not be able to leave their dog. No exceptions.

They will need to go to the kennel every so often to walk their dog, etc... The kennel cast members do not handle the dogs at all.

You can read specifics here.

I like Lazy Dog Cafe. I have not been to the location on Katella (not walking distance, but within 5 miles of DL). I went with a friend to a different location and my buddy took his dog and it was great. They have a website if you want to check it out.

We have used the kennels at DL many times and have always had good experiences. :thumbsup2

I agree with the OP, you do need to have the paperwoork to prove that the dogs have had rabies vacination, but I would call to make sure specifically what they require now.

They provide you with a water/food bowl that is paper. We have always taken our own alog with a blanket for them to lay on. This is always just something small, like a baby blanket type so that they still feel comfy. We also take a small bag of food. The CM's have always feed them for us at the time that we say.

We have not used the kennel since they changed the area, but in the past they had either inside or outside, whichever you prefer. You must remember to walk them for potty time, the CM's are not allowed to handle to animals.

Once, we had one of our pets get sick, they called us so we could go take care of them. I like the fact that someone is always with them and they are never just placed in a cage and left. We have stayed until park closing and there is always a CM waiting :)

As far as dining, perhaps you can get something after you place the dog in the kennels, then you do not have to worry about pet friendly!

Our dogs have been to Disneyland more then most people I know! The vaccines you will need are DHPP and Rabies to get into the kennel. You can bring toys, blankets, food, bowls or whatever else your dog may need for the day. Our Golden/Lab eats the paper bowls that they provide so we always bring metal ones. They have about 4-5 large dog runs and tons of smaller cages. We are usually always the first ones to drop off in the morning and last to pick up our dogs. We go walk them every 3 hours during the day. There is a small fenced in area where you can walk or play with your dogs. The one thing to be careful of is if your dog is scared of fireworks, you may want to go be with him during the firework show as it is loud and scary to many dogs. Luckily our dogs don't mind the fireworks and we often go sit outside with them to watch the show. I love how Disney has thought of this kennel, they truly understand that for a lot of us our dogs are part of the family. For me, they are my kids and I love sharing Disney with them.

Here they are with the Disney Wonder when she came to our city, San Francisco.

I thought I read the kennels were closed. Maybe I am wrong.

The kennels formerly located at the Theme Parks of the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida closed some time ago. Kennel services at the Walt Disney World Resort are now provided at a centralised location operated by Best Friends Pet Care.

However, kennel services continued to be provided at the Disneyland Resort in California. The kennel is located just to the right of the Disneyland Park entrance.

We have left our 2 dogs at the kennels several times now. Here are some pictures.

Not a great picture of the one of the mid size kennels. There are smaller ones and then a larger one than this on the bottom. Also further down the row facing the other direction are small runs for large dogs.

The kennels facing the outside windows get this view.

We "visited" our dogs 3 times. The first was during the heat of the day, so we let them play in the run next to the mural.

The other 2 times, we took them on a walk toward Harbor and along the sidewalks that have vegetation along the side.

We bring their traveling blankets and a toy for them. We also bring their bowls/food/treats. You can put their "stuff" on top of their kennels, but I wouldn't put anything really valuable in there except for their treats/food/leashes.

We usually park in the M&F parking lot and walk to the kennels. The CMs are friendly and helpful although they can not feed or walk your dogs. Our aussie is a pro now, he just walks in, waits for us to open the kennel, hops in and lies down. But I think he really likes looking at Lady...might even have a crush on her;)

Lilbunnyk I think I have seen your babies there. I bring my Great Dane Gus sometimes and always arrive around 7:45 in the morning to snag one of the large kennels. Jenny is my favorite kennel castmember:thumbsup2 I park in the M & F parking lot and bring Gus on the tram. He loves it!

Hey...I'm a Great Dane mom too. :)

Claire is very, very sad she won't be making the trip to Disneyland with us in November.

That would be quite a trip for Claire!:rotfl: I wish that they had overnight kennels for the couple times of year we stay at DLH.

I went to visit the kennel with my service dog as it was listed as one of the "break areas". It was extremely clean and nice- I was so impressed! The CM's working there were also very kind and gave us a tour. I'd definitely not hesitate to use this facility.---Kathy (and Skye)

It would be quite a trip. And honestly, she'll be much happier at doggie daycare for 10 days rather than cooped up in a kennel for 10 days straight. We will miss her, but she'll be much better off.
