So we are supposed to be going to the fort in September and camping in a tent from the 16-26th. Well yesterday we got a puppy she is three months old. I know that they have the kennels and I was wondering if anyone has ever used them. Are we allowed to ever bring her to our tent or is it against the rules, I was also thinking about possibly renting an rv so that she can stay with us. Thanks for the help!

We have never used the new kennels but we did tour them and they look nice. Expensive and not convenient to the fort, but if you have no alternative then I think they would provide excellent care. Unless it has changed you could not leave a dog unattended in a tent, it could be there with you during the night if you are with it but it would have to go to the kennel when you are not. Also, you will need air conditioning in September if you plan to leave a animal in a tent/RV/ or trailer.

So we van keep her at night with us in the tent and then take her to the kennel in the am

It would be cheeper and better for you to rent an RV and keep your puppy with you the whole time and the puppy will love you for it. I think its around $35 a night to board your dog. If you rent a RV you will have A/C you will need it in Sept. it is HOT HOT HOT

I wish we could do that but im worried that its gonna add another 1000 to 2000 dollars to our vacation.

We used the kennels the last week of March.

Check in took a very long time. Only one person was working, checking in the person (dog) in front of us. About 30 minutes before they were done. The other person who was there just stood there, until the first dog was done, and then she took the dog to the back.

Our check in went fairly quickly, only about 10 minutes. The lady who left came and got Piper and her belongings (a bed pillow and comforter that Piper sleeps on, her food/water bowls--because she wont' eat or drink out of anything else,-- some dog treats and her toys).

We called the resort during the bad storm to check on Piper, but their system went to voice mail. I had paid for an indoor-outdoor suite, and additional walks. Did she get them? I don't know. I never received any calls back from them. :confused3

When we went to pick her up, her blanket and pillow were soaked with cold pee. Her food bowl stunk and was wet (and had bits of food in it) but her water bowl was dry. Hardly any of her food was gone, but sometimes she goes into picky mode and won't eat, so I wasn't worried about that by itself, but added in with the other things...

Now we didn't pay for a bath or grooming or anything, and she wasn't in one of the "uber" suites, but we were told that if her bedding got wet, it would be washed, which is why it had to be labeled. Why they didn't clean it up, I don't know. I am so glad I had an extra large garbage bag in the car to put her stuff into, can you imagine how bad it would have been on the way home?

I asked for a manager before we left, but "no one was available". I called when we got home, and I'm still waiting for a return call. Every time I've ever called, I've had to leave a message. The only ones ever returned were the ones I left saying I want to make a reservation.

I'm not using them again. I'm searching locally, and will just pay the extra day or two for her here.

The tent loop 1500 is not a pet loop, so no dogs there. I'm not sure about the other tent loop though.... 2100?

Have you seen the thread about a dog sitting exchange on this page? I am trying to include a link to that thread, but I don't know how successful I'll be. They will also be at the fort in September so maybe you could work something out together.

September can and is usually pretty hot. Bad for animal in a tent even if there are open screen sections. Renting an RV averages $1,500.00 and up per week. The kennels for the day best bet.

Thanks everyone for the advice. We called and made her reservations yesterday at the pet kennel. We will go and see her frequently during the day!!!
