Besides a horrible upset stomach, diarreah, and vomiting.....will ground beef grease "hurt" a dog? My DD left the dog unsupervised in the kitchen while I was nursing her sister. Which normally wouldn't have been "too" terrible....we do leave her in there a lot when we can't keep a constant eye on her instead of crating her. However....I had cooked 6+ pounds of ground beef last night and had put the grease in a two liter bottle that I cut the top off of and put in the bottom of the trash can. And you guessed it....the dog got into it.

Probably just the stomach issues you mentionned. You may want to put the dog on a bland diet for a few days just as a precaution, boiled hamburger and white rice usually does the trick. Sounds like something my lab would do!

A dog can get pancreatitis. My Gracie dog ate several pork steaks, several of them bones and all.

Pork as it turns out is VERY bad for dogs. She was pretty sick and on some meds.

A large amount of grease could cause the dog to get pancreatitis. Here is an explanation. Good luck.

Give your dog some peptobismol now be very careful in the amount. My big dog 50lb get half a tablet. My little Pom(10lb) get 1/4 it helps with their stomach problems keep and eye on her and as long as she is hydrated and showing no other signs she should be fine.

I know it sounds horrible - as long as she is okay I just wish she was able to put getting in the trash and getting sick together as a cause and effect thing. On that note....any suggestions on how to make her stop getting in the trash? I usually just set it outside the room if she is going to be unsupervise for a bit....but this is twice now that her and dd were outside playing and came in together and she was left alone and got in the trash.

Oh...and I will definitely keep a close eye on her. I can't bear the thought of anything happening to that little girl.

The larger your pooch, the less problems you'll have long term.

My currently very healthy (knock wood), 120 pound, 9 year-old lab mix has eaten tons of stuff over the years that would kill a lesser animal. He's downed a nail and roofing shingle (true story!), an entire stick of butter, half of a large pot roast, a trash basket full of dryer lint, Ziplock sandwich bags, a used diaper, and much more. He's a regular billy goat, so I would expect 6 pounds of ground beef to mean a couple days of diarrhea and then none-the-worse-for-the-wear.

My mom's Westie got pancreatitis after eating a stick of butter. It was critical that she not eat or drink for a day, so if your dog is acting very sick, I would recommend taking her to the vet asap.

Eating the basket full of dryer lint just made me really laugh. Reminds me of when i bring my lab out back and give him a good brushing. I used to just clean his brush and let the hair go out in the yard but he started eating the hair
