I know some of you must have a dog who has lost their hearing and I am wondering if you could give me some advice. My Oreo seems to be almost completely deaf now and she is very clingy. She want's to know where I am at all times and has a hard time relaxing. This morning she busted into the bathroom when I was showering. I have been trying to stomp when I approach her while she is sleeping so she can feel me coming and I don't scare her. Does anyone have any other tips to make her feel more secure?

I found that clapping my hands helped with my former and current older dogs who were losing their hearing. I didn't have a problem with them getting more "clingy" though. Good luck!

I have a Dalmation who went deaf about 6 months ago and the first couple of months were a bit of a challenge.
He has learned to respond to hand signals very well, and has become less clingy over time. I've learned to try and not walk up to him from behind, and to make sure that he can see me when I need him to respond to something.

The first couple of months he was very clingy and need to be near me at all times (he's always been a little on the clingy side), but he seems to be getting better about that.

I think that after some time, your dog should relax and be less clingy. I'm not sure how long it has been for you, but I think that things will get better.

I don't mind her being so clingy, I love the attention! :teeth: I just want her to be able to relax a little more. I'd rather her be able to enjoy a nap in the sun than stressing over where I am.
