dog show stuff: we have our 1st match in Open A tomorrow!!!

We have been workin' our tails off(LOLOL) to get ready for our 1st Show & Go tomorrow!! For those not familiar with the vocabulary,a show & Go is like a practice show to get ready for the real deal).
My goal is to get that CDX by the Boston show in December!
I'm so,so wicked pumped for the Fall shows! This week all my jumps and gates should be delivered so I can set up a ring in my backyard. We're gonna be wicked ready!!!!!!

Good Luck!! Any tips for a newbie on showing??

I have Newfies that I want to do obedience with inprep for doing pet therapy. We have been working lots but I don't think I am quite there yet.

I always love to see different breeds in the obedience ring. How old is your dog? Socialize your dog bigtime! Take him to shows
and let him get used to all the sounds and crowds. When my dogs are young I start to take them to flea markets and EVERYWHERE I can get away with having a dog with me!! Are you training consistently?

Yes please an update on how it went today. I have always wanted to do obedience with my dogs.

My main objective today was to have a dog that was attentive,and she was!! All that attention work is paying off. I hve been working so hard to have a dog that will work without food as a motivation. I know using food is important in training,but if me and the dog don't have a connection without the food we're in deep doodoo once we get in the competition ring!
Her off lead heeling was great! Nice and tight. This dog loves retrieving the dumbell on the flat and highjump. She soars over her jumps at 28"!! Just beautiful to watch,it really is. Now our problem is with the broad jump,Georgie tries to "cheat" by running around it,so we'll be working on that! The only other thing we have to work on is the drop on recall. The judge told me to work on slowing her down because she comes at me like a bullet!! By the time the judge gives me the signal to drop her,she's already infront of me!!!
Man,it felt wicked good to get back in the ring today. I know its only been 2 months,but it feels like 2 years!! This week my gates and jumps will be delivered . I can not wait to turn my yard into an obedience ring!!!!!
