I have a 16 year old chi/mix who is in congestive heart failure. He is on several meds to deal with the issue and is doing ok. Eating, acting fine and being himself. The only problem is he continues to retain fluid. We have had the fluid drained twice, each time at least 1 liter of fluid. Looks like we will have to do it again within the next few days. Does anyone know how often this can be done without causing other problems. I am not at the point of having him put to sleep as other than this, he doesnt seem to be in any pain or isnt acting like he is. Thanks for any help

I don't have any medical advice but just wanted to give a  and say I hope your dog stays okay. He'll be in my thoughts.

As far as I know, as long as there are no other complications the fluid can be drained indefinitely.
Hugs to you and your pup.
