Dog program extended

WDWNT in typical fashion declares the dog policy is over just a few days ago, then flip flopped to say it's staying. Their mole needs to get it straight. Unless I missed it Disney has said nothing and the website still says it is a test until October. :confused3 I have no "dog" in the fight because I would never bring my dog and leave them locked up all day ........... but until Disney actually states their policy I'll wait.

Yep. The closest we have gotten to official word is a response from George K’s office that no decision has been made. But everyone seems to ignore that report and run with a fan site report.

Because we all know people won't follow the rules and Disney won't enforce their rules, therefore impacting everyone.

This and people (not accusing anyone specifically) will leave their dogs alone in a strange place for hours on end. Those dogs will be afraid and most likely feel abandoned because they have no idea where they are or the noises, specifically fireworks, happening around them. Not to mention that not all dogs are friendly even if the owner believes they are. Under high stress situations (which is what a theme park resort is for a dog) dogs can act in ways that they previously haven't injuring others.

My opinion is if you want to bring your dog rent a cabin or go to the beach. Be outdoors or in places where your dog can be a part of your vacation, not locked on a strange hotel room.

But that might be an argument against Disney’s policy but that doesn’t make it selfish to bring your dog to wdw & follow that rules.

I did not say it was selfish to bring you dog on vacation. I would take my dogs many places. I said it was selfish to take your dog to a theme park vacation.
Disney hasn't implemented rules that people are breaking. There are very few rules regarding dogs at Disney resorts. Which is part of the problem.

So just to clarify, you think any person who brings a dog to a hotel at an amusement park is selfish? Even if the hotel has a successful and well-run pet policy, and the family acts responsibly? Yes, yes, I know, not every family will, but I am asking about the responsible families. Even they are selfish?

I am not disagreeing with you, Disney needs to work out the kinks in their current policy. And as it stands right now, I am not thrilled with it as a dog owner. I'd like to know that certain rooms are designated dog guest rooms. If I chose not bring my dog on vacation, I do not wish to be in a dog room. I can't even start though on the people that are fretting over the dog poo on the sidewalk... Have you never been pooped on by a Disney wild bird (trust me, way worse!)? However, I do respect a family's concern about staying in a room that previously had a dog in it. I would never want a child to go into an allergic shock because I brought my dog with me.

However, it is possible for a family to be responsible with their dog at a well-run, pet-friendly hotel at an amusement park. Not all families will leave their dogs behind for hours on end or will let them run all over the hotel room. Additionally, there are ways a hotel can ensure dogs will be separated from the rest of the guest population. To say that EVERYONE is selfish .period. seems a little extreme and does not give the responsible dog owners their due credit... Not every situation is the same! Disney has enacted this policy to work around families that need to bring their pet in order to enjoy a family vacation. Just like Disney has made many other policies to ensure other types of families can enjoy themselves.

I HATE a lot of policies that Disney has, but it is created to help other people, so I accept it and move on. I love certain hotels too, and if Disney enacted a policy that effected my family, trust me, I would be bummed. But guess what? I'd choose a different option! As much as the hotel may be my "home," it is not actually my home! No one is making you stay at a specific hotel! There are dozens of wonderful options Disney has created for all of us, and a majority do not involve this dog policy. The world unfortunately does not revolve around one person.

So with that being said, if the policy is discontinued tomorrow then oh well. If it remains then yippee I have another option available to me, if I choose to utilize it or not. However, if I choose to take my dog some day it will not be because I am being selfish, it will be because I love my pet and it is the BEST OPTION FOR MY FAMILY AND DOGGY. If it is not the best option for your family, then by all means, do not utilize the policy.

ALSO I VOTE NO CAT DISCRIMINATION! LET LUCIFER STAY AT DISNEY TOO IF HE WANTS TO! :ccat:

All I'm going to say is I do think it is selfish. I think I have argued my point.

Since this has gone the way of all dog threads and turned into an argument, I'm going to close it.

I am working on a FAQ thread on the dog policy that should be posted later today, or tomorrow.
